Color Block Jam

Color Block Jam is a grid-based puzzle game. The board has colored blocks and matching colored doors. Your job is to slide each block to its door so that the board is cleared. You can only move blocks in straight lines (up, down, left, or right), and they stop when they hit another block or the edge. Each level has a move limit, so you need to find an efficient order of moves.

Unlike match-three or merge games, Color Block Jam is about planning routes: if you move the wrong block first, you can block the path for others. Levels get harder as the grid gets more crowded and the number of moves stays tight. The game suits players who enjoy sokoban-style logic and spatial puzzles.

Plan ahead. Before you slide, think about where every block will end up. Ask yourself: after this move, can the green block still reach its door? Often the best first move is one that opens space for several other blocks.

Use the edges. Sliding a block along the side of the grid can free the center and create new paths. Use the edges as a way to “park” blocks temporarily while you clear a path for another color.

Do not block doors. Avoid moving a block so it sits in front of another block’s door. If the red block is stuck behind the blue block and the blue door is on the other side, you may need to move blue first, then red.

Unblock in order. Identify which block is blocking the most others and try to move that one first. Sometimes moving a block in the “wrong” direction (away from its door) creates the space you need for others, then you can bring it back later.

Use Undo. If a move makes the level unsolvable or uses too many moves, hit Undo and try a different sequence. Small changes in order can make a big difference.

On harder levels, the board is tight and the move limit is strict. Start by spotting which blocks are blocking others and which doors are easiest to reach. Often it helps to solve one or two colors first to open space, then handle the rest.

If a level has obstacles (e.g. ice, crates, or locked tiles), free the blocked areas first so blocks can move through. When the move counter is low, avoid moves that do not directly help a block toward its door. If you are halfway through your moves and less than halfway done, consider restarting—sometimes a new layout gives a cleaner solution.

There is no single trick for every level; each puzzle has its own layout. Try different starting moves, use the edges, and keep an eye on which block is the main bottleneck. Taking a short break and returning with fresh eyes often helps you see a solution you missed.
