Roberto Pellegrini hat dies repostetRoberto Pellegrini hat dies repostetExciting News!!!!! The TinkerTell Toddler Stories are here! 🎉 These simple stories are designed for the littlest of listeners, with playful, easy to follow plots and characters that catch toddler’s attention, and build their storytime routines!!! 📚 I couldn’t be more excited about this, and as a parent of a toddler I am seeing our storytime grow. My daughter (20 months) is asking me to read (by pointing to books and her TinkerTell printouts) as soon as I’m home from work. Seeing her face light up as I read aloud is the highlight of my day. 💛 Whether you’re a parent or an educator, we hope this new feature helps you create these magical moments with your little ones. Give it a try and tell us about it! ⭐️ #TinkerTell #ToddlerStories #Storytime #EdTech #SharedAttention

Roberto Pellegrini hat dies repostetDo you know that young children whose parents read them five books a day enter kindergarten having heard about 1.4 million more words than kids who were never read to? 🤯 On Tuesday we had our first Storytelling Event, and it was an absolute blast filled with games, candies and horror stories. 🎃🧛♀️🍬 It feels great to be part of the birth of this community! But we also spent some time discussing the importance of reading to Children from a very young age. Thanks to Katherine Schlatter, EdD, EdM, ALM, MCHES® for sharing this fascinating article https://lnkd.in/eeupfdJE and for introducing me to the concept of #JointReading. Looking forward to many more events to come! 📚🎉Roberto Pellegrini hat dies repostetIt was lovely to meet you and your little ones last night! 🎃 Ari Marsilio and I would like to thank you all for joining us at our very first #Halloween Storytelling Party at Impact Hub Ticino and thanks to all the Impact Hub Ticino team to give us the space and support us on building a thriving community! 🧡✨ We hope you enjoyed the stories, costumes, food, and fun as much as we did! 🎉 The evening was made special by all the creative costumes, our #storytelling time, and the wonderful stories shared. Moments like these highlight the magic of reading together and the importance of fostering community dialogue about early #literacy! We're already looking forward to hosting many more storytelling events in the future, and we can't wait to grow this beautiful storytelling #community! Exciting adventures await! 📚🌟 #TinkerTell #THENCEcosystem

Roberto Pellegrini hat dies repostetRoberto Pellegrini hat dies repostetReflecting on an inspiring Italian Tech Week that wrapped up recently in the dynamic city of Turin, where industry strives to meet with #technology as it’s storied past of manufacturing suggests. ✨The best part? The conference was free, thanks to the generous sponsors (no endorsements here), and featured some big names like Sam Altman and Jeannette zu Fürstenberg. The talks were engaging, and attendance was high, but a highlight for me was the "Drinks and Deal" side event! However, during the tweek I was looking for a women-centric founder-investor mingler…Alas! Either I was unaware, or there wasn’t one. I did wonder if, as a female angel attendee, I was one in 5, 50 or 100? 😍 Nevertheless, I had the chance to hear some interesting pitches up close, met a Turin Masters student turned #startup co-founder and CTO Mona Davari, had cool conversations with Bernardo Lisi and heard about this neat platform by Clément Aglietta. ▶️ My favourite new StartUp talent in attendance? It was Ari Marsilio of TinkerTell a slick new app that boosts literacy through storytelling for even the youngest of storytellers. Ari is Italian, studied in Turin, is a UX guru and established her company with physicist, engineer and co-founder Roberto Pellegrini in Scotland! Any other startups that caught your eye recently? 👇 📍I am at Sifted Summit in London these days! I'll report back soon! #ITW24 #ItalianTechWeek #Innovation #Tecnology #AI #Networking #Storytelling #Litearcy #Education #TechCommunity

Roberto Pellegrini hat dies repostetRoberto Pellegrini hat dies repostetWhat a week! Big thanks to Caro Melendez 🔜 MEDICA🇩🇪/Slush🇫🇮 and Dec McLaughlin for organising the best Sifted side events. Go Foras! Super honoured I had a chance to pitch TinkerTell alongside other 19 incredible startups from Scotland. Honorary mention to Alma Angels office hour for being one of the highlights of this trip. The vibe in a room full of 100+ female Founders and female Angels was incredible. Super happy I got matched to Anna Sweetman, we instantly connected! Looking forward to meet her at the crag 🧗♀️ Anyway, to celebrate team Foras and the Scotch trip to Sifted I decided to ask TinkerTell to write a story about it. 🦄 🐓 🐄 🐑🐑🐑 🏔 💰 "Foras and the Golden Adventure” - Read the comments for the full story. Roberto Pellegrini gefällt dasRoberto Pellegrini gefällt dasAnthropic: "Using survey data from the US, we find no impact on unemployment rates for workers in the most exposed occupations" Somebody should tell them that they don't seem to have a clue about how good the AI is. Don't they know the job market collapse is apparently imminent? 😅 TGIF... More seriously though: the report claims that there is a large gap between theoretical capability and observed usage - see figure below. Now, I mean this with all due respect, but I have to call BS on this figure. What they do is to look at tasks of a certain job, then ask which ones an AI can do twice as fast - according to a 2023 paper. And in *that* paper, they do this by asking contracted human annotators if they think LLMs could do a task faster. It's essentially wishful thinking by a group of people in 2023 who don't really understand the task at hand. Contrast this with a 2025 paper by METR that showed that software devs, when measured in a proper RCT, are actually slower when using AI... Now, whether that still holds in 2026 is an open question, but it's a gentle reminder that even 2025 AI capacity, which was already very strong, couldn't easily show efficiencies in an RCT, even in software development. The blue data represented in this chart is a fantasy - no empirical evidence backs this up. Roberto Pellegrini gefällt dasRoberto Pellegrini gefällt dasI built a small project with Polars called polars-nlq: https://lnkd.in/e5PYYVEA It turns a natural language question into a typed Polars query plan, validates that plan, and then executes it against a DataFrame or LazyFrame. How it works (at a high level): nl_query(...) uses instructor to generate a validated Plan (Pydantic models) execute_plan(...) takes that Plan and builds the corresponding Polars operations A key design choice: execution always returns a LazyFrame, so you can keep composing and only materialize when you want. Also: - No data is sent to LLM endpoints, only the schema - Plans can be serialized, stored, and reused - Unlike LlamaIndex’s PolarsQueryEngine, it does not use eval - Unlike pandas-nlq, it doesn’t depend on a SQL engine (like DuckDB) LLM generated plans may be incorrect, so review them before using them for anything important! Feedback is welcome.

Roberto Pellegrini gefällt dasRoberto Pellegrini gefällt dasGenuinely proud of the thymia team for publishing results from a large-scale study on depression and anxiety speech biomarkers in Nature Portfolio's Scientific Reports. 30k+ unique voices, clinical labels. Here's what that scale gets you. Speech biomarkers are real, not an academic dream. ROC-AUC of 0.84 and 0.83 for depression and anxiety respectively. ECE under 0.02. Core symptoms (anhedonia, low mood, anxiety, uncontrollable worry) all above 0.74 AUC individually. Not a binary "depressed yes/no" classifier. Granular, symptom-level, clinically actionable outputs. The architecture mixes deep learning and probabilistic modelling. Neural networks extract symptom-level predictions from spectrogram-based speech embeddings, speech timing, and language features. These feed into a Bayesian network that arbitrates across noisy inputs, learns inter-symptom relationships, and outputs calibrated probabilities. Deep learning for representation. Bayesian reasoning for transparency and clinical trust. Fairness holds across age, gender, race/ethnicity, accent, device type, chronic health conditions. Clinicians can intervene directly on symptom nodes via do-operations. The human stays in the loop. Speech is a delicate instrument: anything that affects your nervous system, or more trivially your sleep quality or when you had your last coffee, changes speech production in subtle ways. There are no cheap shortcuts. This took years of large-scale, high-quality data collection in real-world noisy environments. We're slow at scientific publications. We're fast at shipping: our dataset has more than doubled since this study, we support multiple languages and integrate with voice agents and any voice comms platform. Much more to share soon. Today, a big thank you to the team: Agnes Norbury George Fairs Alexandra Livia Georgescu, PhD Matthew Nour, MD PhD CCT Emilia Molimpakis, PhD and all current and former thymia employees Link in comments. #SpeechBiomarkers #DigitalMentalHealth #PrecisionPsychiatry #BayesianNetworks #VoiceAI

Roberto Pellegrini gefällt dasRoberto Pellegrini gefällt dasI just published a small tool I built for personal use on GitHub: https://lnkd.in/e5TgYHQt minindex is a simple local text indexing library I wrote in Rust with Python bindings. It lets you build a memory mapped index and do fast search over text files with support for fuzzy search and regex. The core idea is based on finite state transducers (FSTs). An FST is a compact data structure that represents a set or map of strings in a way that makes lookups and fuzzy matching fast and space efficient. If you are curious about the theory behind it, here is a great writeup: https://lnkd.in/etSkrrfc Credit to the Microsoft docfind project for inspiring some of the design ideas here: https://lnkd.in/e_y3T-eW This started as a personal project but it might be useful to others. Feel free to check it out, try it and let me know what you think. #RAG #python #rust

Roberto Pellegrini gefällt dasRoberto Pellegrini gefällt dasHas anyone seen Dr Emily Jackman on social media? Dr Emily is a GP and a content creator, sharing her life on social media while navigating general practice during a workforce crisis. In one of her videos last month, Emily announced that her position as a salaried GP had been made redundant. Emily went into a meeting thinking she would be discussing her request to have 15 mins per patient per consultation to improve patient care – and came out of the meeting without a job. General practice is under immense strain. Partners are trying to balance books under the weight of a failing, underfunded system. And they simply can’t do it. They can’t afford to keep a hold of the GPs they desperately need and instead must make redundancies to save their practices. We are seeing the effects right in front of us. Fantastic, deserving GPs like Emily are losing their jobs despite there being a very serious GP demand across the country. Right now, the average number of patients per full-time GP is 2,247. These are unsustainable and, honestly, unfair statistics. Unfair on GPs and unfair on patients. The model needs serious, thoughtful, and balanced reform. We should never find ourselves in a position where we have excellent, fully-qualified GPs ready for work – but unable to find it.

Roberto Pellegrini gefällt dasRoberto Pellegrini gefällt dasOne assumption about the October AWS us-east-1 outage was that it might have been caused by “brain drain” at AWS: engineers who built the DynamoDB DNS system leaving and those remaining not understanding the system. I talked with engineers involved in resolving the outage and learned that the devs who built this service are not only still at AWS, but were on the outage call and helped resolve it faster. Distributed systems at massive scale remain hard! More details on what actually happened - straight from the AWS Incident Response Team in today’s The Pragmatic Engineer https://lnkd.in/epE2p7_k
