Das Konsortium NFDIxCS verfolgt das Ziel, die FAIR-Prinzipien (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) für Forschungsdaten und Software-Artefakte in der Informatik umfassend umzusetzen. Wir entwickeln und etablieren eine organisatorische und technische, kooperative und interoperable Infrastruktur, um die relevanten Akteure und Dienste in der Informatik zu vernetzen und zu stärken. Unsere Schwerpunkte: * Entwicklung von Diensten zur Speicherung komplexer, domänenspezifischer Datenobjekte, die Daten, Metadaten, Software sowie Kontext- und Ausführungsinformationen standardisiert bündeln. * Förderung der Zitierbarkeit von Informatik-Daten und Software zur Modernisierung der Publikationsprozesse und -kultur. * Bereitstellung eines Forums zur Diskussion und Entwicklung allgemein akzeptierter Standards für Metadaten, Datenformate und nachhaltige Datenspeicherung. * Unterstützung der Anwendung von Big Data, Künstlicher Intelligenz und Maschinellem Lernen in Zusammenarbeit mit anderen wissenschaftlichen Disziplinen. * Wissens- und Erfahrungsaustausch in der Informatik-Community zu Systemarchitekturen, Prozessen und Standards für Interoperabilität und nachhaltige Datenpraktiken. Unsere Arbeit umfasst die empirische Ermittlung von Bedarfen in den Teildisziplinen der Informatik sowie die Entwicklung einer nachhaltigen Dienste-Infrastruktur. Gleichzeitig fördern wir einen kulturellen Wandel, unterstützen den akademischen Nachwuchs und stärken die Kompetenzen im verantwortungsvollen Umgang mit Forschungsdaten. Mit der Unterstützung der Gesellschaft für Informatik (GI) und der Zusammenarbeit mit nationalen, europäischen und internationalen Partnern schafft NFDIxCS die Basis für eine nachhaltige und zukunftsweisende digitale Infrastruktur. We are very happy to share this recap of the Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. New Year’s Reception at the Einstein Center Digital Future! The event marked the transition from Christine Regitz to Martin R. Wolf as GI president, and featured important discussions on “Sovereign Research in the AI Era” and “Security by Design as an Innovation Factor”. Speakers explicitly mentioned the NFDI as a positive example of state-supported infrastructure development, highlighting how coordinated public investment can strengthen research and innovation in Germany. From the NFDIxCS perspective, it’s truly encouraging to see our work recognized as a model for building sustainable and sovereign research infrastructures.

Für spannende Diskussion sorgten nicht zuletzt die Gesprächsrunde "Souveräne Forschung im KI-Zeitalter" mit Prof. Dr. Ina Schieferdecker (TU Berlin), Ronja Kemmer (CDU) und Dr. Andrea Lübcke (B90/Grüne) und die Unterhaltung zum Thema "Security by Design als Innovationsfaktor" mit Alexander von Gernler (genua GmbH) und Donata Vogtschmidt (Die Linke) Auf die vier erfolgreichen Jahre mit Christine Regitz und die kommende Zeit mit Martin Wolf wurde anschließend bei leckeren Buffet angestoßen und die Gespräche über Deutschlands digitale Zukunft noch bis spät am Abend weitergeführt. Yesterday, NFDIxCS hosted the workshop “Governance of Data Platforms” at the Einstein Center Digital Future, bringing together experts to explore how sustainable and future-oriented governance for data platforms can be designed. We discussed the interplay between technical solutions, governance structures, and business models, using platforms such as Health-X, Catena-X, and GAIA-X to examine how governance evolves across formation, development, operation, and scaling/maturity phases. Last years Chaos Communication Congress provided a forum for discussions on digital infrastructures, technology governance, and societal implications. It brought together technical communities, researchers, and civil society actors. NFDIxCS was represented at the #39c3 by Elena Müller to engage with communities beyond academia and to situate perspectives from research data infrastructure development within a broader digital context. Throughout the Congress, exchanges with participants focused on open and responsible digital infrastructures, decentralisation, and digital governance. Some key takeaways from #39C3: · Strong demand for open and interoperable digital infrastructures · Digital independence is increasingly understood as a governance issue · High relevance of research data infrastructure topics beyond academic contexts · And finally, our NFDIxCS post-its proved to be very popular 🎉 Further impressions from #39C3 can be read here (in German) 👇
Könnte 2025 inspirierender enden als mit der Kreativität und dem starken Gemeinschaftsgefühl, das der #39C3 ausstrahlt? Es war großartig, zum ersten Mal dabei zu sein und zumindest einen kleinen Eindruck von den vielen Projekten, Ideen und Menschen zu bekommen, die das #Chaos ausmachen.
