Downloaded a new title, hit play, and an interstitial immediately launched what looked like the game itself. Ten minutes later, I realized I was playing a completely different app. This is what uncontrolled ad monetization does to your players. You can't choose what interstitials run in your game. That means a competitor can effectively hijack your first session, on your dime, with your player. So be careful with how you think about ads and make sure the juice is really worth the squeeze. Adam

Adam Jaffe ha publicado estoA bit of a sad day here at Mega Studio. After nearly five years of building games, I have decided to fully shut down the development side of the business. It is hard to overstate what a rollercoaster the last five years have been. We operated across both third-party and first-party product development, built over 35 games and apps, and at our peak had nearly 40 incredibly talented people working across multiple products at the same time. Today, we said goodbye to our last and longest-serving developer. Andrei Patrascu, Patrik, joined me from Romania four and a half years ago and has been by my side ever since. He is, without question, one of the smartest and hardest-working developers I have ever worked with. In a time when many people chase shiny new projects or the latest AI trend, Patrik was the opposite. Heads down. Relentless. Quietly excellent. The kind of person who simply gets things done. Whether it was learning and building backend server infrastructure from scratch or shipping Unity client builds under pressure, there was never a challenge I felt he could not handle. He is now looking for his next role, and I could not recommend him more highly. If you are building something meaningful and need a developer who takes ownership and delivers, you would be lucky to have him on your team. As for Mega, while it is bittersweet to close the chapter on our mobile app development dream, I am incredibly proud of what we built and deeply grateful for the people who were part of it. Mega is not going anywhere. We are shifting focus and leaning fully into what we do best, helping rewarded platforms and game studios scale their marketing and growth efforts. We are not a traditional agency. We are a small group of experienced operators who roll up our sleeves and help businesses reach their next level. This is the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. And to everyone who built with us, thank you.

Shay led performance marketing for Monopoly Go, one of the biggest mobile game launches in recent history, and now he's VP Marketing at Zynga overseeing studios like Gram Games and Socialpoint. The guy has been in the trenches at every level of this industry, from ad networks to Playtika to Scopely, and it shows in every answer. We got into what it actually takes to scale a game from soft launch KPIs deep in the green to the top of the charts, why creative is now the last lever UA managers fully control, and his view on where the role is heading as automation keeps eating campaign management. His take on playable ads is one of my favorites: stop building ads that are playable, start building games that are ads.
