About
What’s going on, Internet? Kia ora, I’m fLaMEd. Not a developer, not a designer, just a guy who loves the web. I’m originally from Te Awa Kairangi, Lower Hutt, and am currently living in Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa, NZ with my wife and two kids.
I’m into fitness, up at 4:40am every morning for weights and cardio. I’ve recently picked up golf again after a couple of decades away from the sport. I’m not really a gamer but I’ve been playing World of Warcraft since 2025.
I love reading books, comic books, listening to and collecting music, watching movies and television shows, and trying new beer.
The site
fLaMEd fury is a collection of stuff that means everything to me and probably nothing to you. I’ve been on the web since 1996 and this site is my little corner of it. A throwback to the old everything/nothing personal websites of the early 2000s, built by one person, about nothing in particular and everything at once.
I write about the web, music, books, beer, movies and TV, comics, and whatever else is on my mind. There’s no niche, no algorithm to satisfy, no brand. Just stuff I care about.
The web
I believe everyone should have their own slice of the internet. A personal site isn’t a product or a platform, it’s an expression of who you are, on your own terms. The big social networks come and go but your own domain is yours forever (until it’s not, lol).
I’m a member of the 32-Bit Cafe, a community of personal website enthusiasts. The site follows IndieWeb principles. It has feeds, webmentions, and microformats baked in. I want the open web to win.
