Linux system administration

I've worked with Debian/Ubuntu and CentOS/RHEL as a solo administrator and as part of a team running some of the most heavily visited websites in the world including Creative Commons where I led the development of licensebuttons.net to improve the privacy and performance of the ubiquitous CC license graphics.

In my role at Adaptive Health, I oversaw the daily upkeep of more than 50 virtual and dedicated servers, plus a fleet of a dozen hardened Linux workstations, as well as leading five successful annual PCI compliant audits.

Web standards and web accessibility

In my most recent role, I worked as a web standards and accessibility specialist, improving the overall compliance at Adaptive Health on websites such as Nugenix, Instaflex and Peptiva, bringing websites into compliance while meeting the needs of marketing teams.

Using tools including Cypress and accessibility libraries such as axe-core, I built a test suite for each product website enabling rapid turnaround for fixes with a focus on WCAG AA compliance.

More than 25 years experience

I have been working professionally since 1998, with a wide range of skills and experiences, including web development with PHP, Python and Ruby, as well as MySQL and PostgreSQL databases and more than twenty years experience in the global open source community.

In my spare time I am responsible for the development, administration (and important end-user support) for the music community I created in 2009, Libre.fm with more than 380,000 users and a database tracking more than 320 million song listens.

Technical Leadership

Previous projects include using Dropbox to build a CDN for email-asset caching, tooling to enable marketing to facilitate DNS updates, security and compliance audits, building a translation system for volunteers and rescuing and patching aging web servers.

Cloud or physical

I've worked with both AWS and Google Cloud, as well as more than twenty years of experience administering physical and virtual Linux servers across the world.

Full stack developer

From CSS to DNS, I'm ready for whatever needs to happen next.

Optimized by default
