Holiday celebrations in Sudan generally span over several days instead of just one date. Many of the holidays will change in date each year because they are based off of the lunar cycle for their celebration dates. The government of Sudan requires that all employers acknowledge these dates regardless of when they occur each year.
Because of the changing dates of many of the holidays, the Sudanese government releases an official listing of national holidays celebration dates at the end of each year. The dates for Muslim holidays are based off of the Umm al-Qura calendar of Saudi Arabia.
