Leslie and his team built SEA-LION, the open-source LLM family designed to better understand Southeast Asia's languages and communities. Together they'll get into what efficient, adaptive AI looks like when you're building for the real world, not just benchmarks. Batch 20, our biggest cohort yet, have officially wrapped their AIAP journey 🎓 At their graduation ceremony at the end of last month, we welcomed Batch 5 alumna Jie Huang, PhD, now Associate Director of AI Research & Experimentation at Standard Chartered Bank, back to speak with the apprentices. Her sharing encouraged the Batch 20 apprentices to reflect on their AIAP journey and look ahead with confidence as they step into the next stage of their AI careers. The ceremony also recognised outstanding Batch 20 apprentices and project teams who demonstrated strong technical achievement. As our largest cohort to date, Batch 20 has grown into a strong, collaborative community over the past six months. With Seminar 4 held last Friday, we’ve successfully wrapped up another impactful run of the LADP Seminar Series. Imagine an AI assistant that recognises its user, adapts responses to different roles, and becomes more valuable with every interaction. In Seminar 4, we explored how context-aware LLM chat assistants are making this a reality. A special thank you to our guest speaker, Zhi Rui from HSC Pipeline Engineering (HSCPE) and an LADP participant, for sharing how their team developed a secure, on-premise RAG-enabled AI Playbook — a centralised knowledge hub empowering staff across the organisation.
