Bee Kwan Lim shared thisHappy to be a panellist at the DSO National Laboratories International Women's Day event. This is a grounds-up initiative to put a spotlight on the women in DSO. Alongside my fellow panellists Kuan Seah CHUA and Elisa Mo, who also served as the moderator, we shared insights on the challenges of embracing and supporting diversity, increasing women's representation in leadership roles, and discussed ways to overcome barriers that prevent women from reaching their full potential. We encourage women to dedicate time to intentionally grow their networks, particularly outside their organizations. Associations like the Singapore Computer Society offer valuable opportunities for interaction with peers across different sectors. We also hope our discussions foster greater awareness among male allies to support and encourage women in DSO. The event also celebrated the achievements of DSO DCE Le Na Ngiam, who will assume the role of Chief Executive of the National Space Agency of Singapore (NSAS) in April. Congratulations to Le Na! Thank you to Kuan Seah, Eliza, Jia Hui Teo, Grace Goon, Lynette Koh, and Wei-Lin Tan for the invitation and for organizing this impactful event. #SingaporeComputerSociety #SGWIT #IWD26

Bee Kwan Lim liked thisBee Kwan Lim liked thisAre You Ready for Sovereign AI? What exactly is sovereign AI? McKinsey & Company says there is no single definition. Rather, it is the result of interactions between four components: territorial (where data & compute physically reside), operational (who manages & secures data & compute), technological (who owns the underlying stack & IP), and legal (which jurisdiction governs access & compliance). In other words, #SovereignAI is about a nation’s or an organization’s ability to develop and control its own AI capabilities to ensure strategic independence & alignment with local laws & values. An effective sovereign ecosystem is not necessarily one in which everything is built domestically. Instead, it is one in which key control points are sovereign by design, even if other elements of the stack may remain open to partnerships, interoperability, competition. Why bother? Because 30%-40% of #AI spending could be influenced by sovereignty requirements, representing a market of about US$600 billion globally by 2030. Gartner predicts that 35% of countries will be locked into region-specific AI platforms using proprietary contextual data by 2027, up from just 5% currently. Should the formulation of your sovereign strategy be left to tech teams? Nope. PwC advocates active input & sponsorship from business, compliance and data management teams. PwC urges #organizations to define (their sovereign strategy), tailor (AI models to strategic goals), set (clear & realistic boundaries), design (their cloud architecture) and build (strategic partnerships with key stakeholders). Governments define which workloads require strong sovereignty (such as defense, sensitive citizen data apps, CII), which can use hybrid models, and which can remain largely global. Download this article if sovereign AI could, or does, impact your organization. #Ethics #Governance #Regulations #Cloud #Compute #Accountability

Bee Kwan Lim liked thisBee Kwan Lim liked thisIt was 2 years in the making — and worth every bit of the wait. When Chapter President Keng Hoe Toh first suggested the AI & Robotics Chapter at Singapore Computer Society organise a dedicated AI conference 2 years ago, I jumped at it. By 2024, almost every industry conference had become an AI conference. But none were built for the practitioners — the people actually building and deploying AI in their organisations. Last week, AI Conference 2026 finally happened. SMS Tan Kiat How delivered the opening address and announced a new job portal for university undergraduates — the group arguably most exposed to AI disruption in the workplace. A welcome and timely move. Giuseppe Manai delivered a keynote framing AI as the OS for enterprises. Luka Debeljak shared the top 5 trends shaping AI adoption in 2026. Both were so captivating I photographed every single slide. The panel on AI bilingualism, moderated by Keng Hoe, got particularly lively when Raju C. shared what he's tracking on the dark web — and why geopolitics keeps him up at night. The highlight for me: moderating a roundtable on the impact of Agentic AI on non-tech industries, with SCS President Bee Kwan Lim, Giuseppe Manai, Jingyuan Zhao (PhD), Naveen Asrani, Lawrence Ng, Kim Tatt Lee, and Brian, Lui Cheng Lim. The conversation kept circling back to one insight that I think every enterprise leader needs to hear: Most of the data we work with today was designed for humans to read and act on. But in an agentic world, data will be generated by agents, for agents. The companies preparing for that shift now will have a serious head start. Thank you Cheryl Lim and the SCS secretariat team for all the heavy lifting behind the scenes. AI Conference 2027 — let's go.

Bee Kwan Lim liked thisBee Kwan Lim liked thisI’m honoured to have been conferred Honorary Membership by the Information Technology Management Association (ITMA) last night. I first joined ITMA in 2001, and over the past 25 years, it has been a meaningful part of my journey. I also had the privilege of serving as a council member for 16 years — years filled with learning, contribution, and many memorable moments. What makes ITMA truly special to me is the people. I’ve made many good friends along the way, and it has been a privilege to journey together through different stages of life and career — including seeing many of them through their peak CIO years and into retirement (while I’m still very much working! 😊). Beyond work, it’s the shared experiences that stand out — the many study trips (with plenty of pre- and post-trip extensions!) to Europe and the US, pickleball games in Guangzhou, makan adventures in Batam, and countless conversations in between. This recognition means a lot to me. More than anything, it reflects the friendships and community we’ve built over the years. Thank you, ITMA.

Bee Kwan Lim liked thisBee Kwan Lim liked thisIt has been six years since I stepped into the role of General Manager for Red Hat Singapore. During this time, the business successfully tripled between 2020 and 2026, establishing Red Hat as the platform of choice for Hybrid Cloud among Financial Institutions, Telcos, and Public Sector clients. My thanks go out to all Red Hat Partners and Customers for their invaluable support. I am now transitioning back to an APAC role, where I will be leading the Public Sector and Telco/Service Provider segments for Red Hat. This focus is strategic, as the Public Sector is our second-largest vertical, and its emphasis on sovereignty in the AI era is vital for our growth across APAC. Furthermore, Telcos and Service Providers are instrumental in driving Sovereign Cloud and AI initiatives throughout the region. I am excited about the significant opportunities ahead in Singapore and the region. To fully capitalize on them, we are proactively transforming internally to strengthen the Red Hat's position in hybrid cloud, AI, and virtualization. I would like to thank you for your support of me and my team and hope that you will continue our partnership by supporting Juliana Lim and the SG team.

Over the past 3 months, since the announcement of my transition, I have had the pleasure of meeting up with many teams of NCS people, and numerous clients and business partners. I have been at times overwhelmed, at times learning something new, but at all times, feeling grateful for the journey that we have gone through together. Recently, I received a heartfelt video summarising my 7-year journey at NCS. In the form of a Star Wars rendition of the 7 strategic themes we have had over the years. I have included the video in this post. The themes at the start of each year are more than individual episodes of our growth story. Together, they tell the story of what we went through - with vision, execution, courage, innovation and above all, solid teamwork. Along the way, we created the unique identity and brand of NCS, with an inspiring culture centred around our Purpose and AEIOU Beliefs. Today, I am leaving NCS with deep gratitude and immense pride in what we have built together, and full confidence that NCS will continue to grow from strength to strength. For me, now is a special moment to take a pause. After more than 3 decades in technology and consulting, I will be taking a "gap year" - to recharge, spend time with my loved ones, and reflect on what comes next. I do not know yet what that next chapter will be. However, I do know this - the future of technology, AI and transformation in the Asia Pacific has never been more exciting. And I look forward to being part of building what comes next. Thank you everyone for this wonderful journey. Thank you all for your trust, belief and friendships. It has been my tremendous honour and privilege to be the CEO of NCS. #ncslife NCS Group NCS Group Australia

+1000% “GovTech Singapore has transformed how the government collaborates and experiments; by building common platforms and embedding technical teams inside ministries and agencies, it facilitates horizontal collaboration that feels unusually spontaneous in a bureaucracy.” And this is exactly what we're also doing as fast followers… through the Bloomberg Philanthropies City Data Alliance program, we've launched a citywide taskforce to focus on improving key areas like 311 service delivery. https://lnkd.in/gFvciQy3 #ai #innovation #changemanagement #team #culture

AI isn’t just changing software engineering. It’s reshaping the whole thing, from how we write code to how we think about what code even is. At GovTech Singapore, we’ve been thinking hard about this. We put together an AI Strategy for Software Engineering earlier this year, and I’ve been actively engaging with technologists within in Singapore and around the world, contributing a public sector perspective to an industry that honestly has more open questions than settled answers. Here is a distillation of those conversations. https://lnkd.in/g9FrWpgR

Thailand’s public sector is entering a major digital transformation phase under the new government, with cloud and AI adoption accelerating to modernise legacy systems. As IT spending by state agencies is expected to rise to as much as 30% of their budgets by fiscal year 2027, opportunities are rapidly expanding for technology and service providers. The focus is shifting from fragmented, paper-based processes to a unified, AI-driven digital infrastructure—covering cloud, networking, cybersecurity, data platforms and e-services. While progress is visible across sectors, challenges remain around system duplication, integration standards and effective use of cloud-first policies. Overall, Thailand is moving from “building buildings” to “building systems,” positioning digital government as a key national priority for the years ahead. https://lnkd.in/g2cmaV5P #ITSpending#afterThailandelection# ITEL#Bluebik

Reflections from Tech Week Singapore. 1) Had several insightful conversations with Tech leaders on data centers, cloud, AI and cybersecurity this week. 2) Biggest takeaway is the demand for compute power. While some fear there might be an oversupply, the reality is the pace of innovation in the region is not slowing down. Data center providers are ensuring there is sufficient supply. 3) Power and water remains the biggest concern in data centers. While nuclear energy is an option, it is still a long way before we see that in Southeast Asia. 4) Immense opportunities for partners as data sovereignty requirements are driving how businesses look at their data strategy and AI development. 5) Lastly, everybody loves events and networking. Check out CRN Asia to find out more about the conversation I had at Tech Week Singapore. Subscribe to our newsletter for more updates: https://lnkd.in/ggpeX9k2

The start of another exciting era for NKF Singapore’s FutureForward 2030 as it pivots to encourage more patients to take up the more sustainable home-based peritoneal dialysis treatment. A whole-of-community ecosystem approach involving NKF, public healthcare clusters, equipment & technology partners, patient educators, family members, regulators, etc will ease the way forward! Glad to be part of the team led by CEO Yen Tan and Board Chair Ang Hao Yao that gets to make this vision a reality in the coming years! #nkfs #peritonealdialysis

What resonates: Daniel CF Ng 伍长辉 This move signals more than capital deployment, it’s a clear alignment of conviction, computation, and capacity. When Temasek, BlackRock and Microsoft converge, we’re not just talking about infrastructure, we’re witnessing the scaffolding of the next digital epoch. AI may be the engine, but without power, pipes, and precision-built data hubs, it’s just theory. Singapore isn’t just participating in the AI race, we’re laying the track.

Beyond AI Hype, Into Healing: DeepSeek to Deep Impact Attached is the DeepSeek presentation I delivered as part of my "AI Competencies for Healthcare Professionals" program. DeepSeek is already being used in over 90 tertiary hospitals across China—a remarkable uptake given it’s been around for less than two years. In my sessions, I integrate tools like DeepSeek, Copilot, Poe, and Grok into machine learning exercises to give learners hands-on exposure. Just last night, I had a diverse group of healthcare professional (students)—including a physician, a PhD in psychology, senior pharmacists, and nurses—individually build a model to detect early-onset sepsis in the ICU. They used simulated patient data to train and build and test their models, and the experience was transformative. For all, it was their first time engaging with AI on such a practical level—and it completely shifted their perspective. They were not only empowered by what they achieved but also left the class feeling more confident and capable of harnessing AI for real-world healthcare impact. #DeepSeekToImpact #HealingWithAI #BeyondAIHype #AICompetencyInCare #FutureReadyClinicians #AI4Healthcare #HumanCentredAI #MachineLearningMedicine #TransformativeTech #EmpoweredByAI #SmartHospitalsNow #SepsisDetectionWithAI

Attended RegTalk: AI Medical Devices in Malaysia – Balancing Innovation and Safety this week, hosted by Futurise (under Malaysia’s Ministry of Finance) in collaboration with the Medical Device Authority (MDA), Ministry of Health, A key takeaway for Australian medtech innovators: Malaysia recognises AI-enabled medical devices approved by Australia’s TGA, along with five other global authorities. This provides a faster, more efficient regulatory pathway for companies looking to expand into Southeast Asia. As AI continues to transform diagnostics and clinical support, Malaysian regulators are actively working to balance innovation with safety, data privacy, and public trust. The use of regulatory sandboxes and alignment with international standards signals strong intent to foster responsible adoption of AI in healthcare.

Tax breaks for companies using AI. Four new AI missions for Singapore : including a Healthcare AI mission. Not many governments are helping hospitals’ financial teams cross the hurdle rate to capture ROI/ breakeven at razor thin margins. This makes our mission much easier - we can focus on execution and deployment of safe, reliable AI in healthcare.

Its track record spans over 700 hospital implementations, 100 cloud-operated facilities, and partnerships with national cybersecurity agencies such as BSI (Germany) and CSA (Singapore). Mr Post’s keynote will explore how cybersecurity, cloud sovereignty, and interoperability underpin digital trust — and how governments can align regulatory frameworks with innovation to safeguard patient data while accelerating digital transformation. The EuroCham Healthcare Forum & Innovation Exhibition 2025, supported by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, will convene government, industry, and investors to chart Cambodia’s path toward a trusted, inclusive, and innovation-driven digital health future. 🔗 Full agenda and registration: https://lnkd.in/gMbYdynK

Interesting news in Southeast Asia about G42’s agreement with Vietnamese partners to invest up to $1 billion in building national-scale cloud and AI infrastructure across Vietnam. The initiative aims to strengthen data sovereignty, support government and enterprise workloads, and position Vietnam as a regional AI hub in Southeast Asia. It highlights a broader trend of countries developing sovereign cloud capacity to balance digital growth, regulatory control, and long-term economic development. #AWS #Cloud #Devops https://lnkd.in/eQzW4SXk

From Singapore’s COVID-19 vaccination rollout to refugee health systems along the Thai–Myanmar border, Chi Ling shows how technology can create real impact when designed with communities. This year, that commitment continued with Speedback, enabling frontline teams to care for more patients and achieve meaningful impact.
