Glen Francis shared thisWhat a morning! Proud for our young adult BlueDot SG team leading the Tech for Humanity initiative for the elderly community. They were the stars of the show at today’s National Celebration of Seniors 2025 launch. Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong watched both the seniors and kids play. eSports is a fantastic way to build community and keep minds sharp. I spent some time personally coaching some of our seniors on how to play, for some of our seniors, mastering these basic controls was a genuine challenge. I saw intense concentration, determination, and a refusal to give up. The initial frustration slowly gave way to a smile. A massive thank you to Agency for Integrated Care (Singapore) for their partnership and success. Congrats Hock Lin Sng 孫福霖 Of course, none of this happens in a vacuum. A heartfelt thanks to our CEO and CTO advisory committees for their unwavering guidance and for investing their time in mentoring the next generation of leaders. Having witnessed parts of this project's evolution, it's inspiring to see how an idea from over two years ago blossomed into such an ambitious and stunning SG60 flagship. As a partner, we saw firsthand the dedication of the "crack team" behind it. Their commitment to pushing the envelope with technology like GenAI, while ensuring it remained seamless and in the background, is a true testament to their vision. The result is exactly as Cher Pong described: aesthetically-stunning, immersive, and fun! Having experienced it myself, I can say the meticulous attention to detail creates a powerful experience. It was a privilege to be part of the panel on "Building an AI-Ready Culture”. Special thanks to our moderator, Andy Ta and my fellow panelist, Colin Lim. They truly brought the spark to our discussion, keeping us on our toes with probing questions that made the conversation all the more insightful. Great catching up with fellow panelist Ed Lenta and Prof Karin Avnit as well. It all begins with a solid foundation. The consensus was clear: robust data governance and security are the non-negotiable bedrock for anything we hope to achieve with AI at scale. On top of that foundation, we must build a culture of empowerment. We believe deeply that AI’s true potential is unlocked when it’s used as a force multiplier—a tool to enhance the incredible expertise of our people. But where to start? The most resonant advice was to focus not on the technology itself, but on the people it serves. The real opportunity lies in removing the small "rocks" from the shoes of our frontline clinicians—automating the tedious, frustrating tasks that get in the way of patient care. By starting with these practical, high-impact problems, we build the trust and momentum needed for a truly AI-enabled future. The collaborative spirit I saw makes me incredibly optimistic about the future of healthcare in Singapore. It was a pleasure to connect with incoming Synapxe CEO, Hee-Jug FOO and feel his enthusiasm for the mission ahead. With his deep experience in digital health, the future is in very capable hands. This was my second visit, and it's wonderful to see the area buzzing with even more life, especially with new shops opening up. The space is so inviting, and Jacqueline's vision for PDD is truly exciting – hearing about plans for robots operating in the area and other initiatives really highlights her commitment to pushing the boundaries of innovation and embracing emerging technologies. It was also a great pleasure to catch up with Jane Sun, CEO of Trip.com Group and her husband John Wu during the visit. A while back, I transitioned from a previous major booking site to Trip.com, and I haven't looked back. The depth of information, especially for adventures and hiking trails in China, is simply unparalleled. The platform is user-friendly, bringing everything a traveler needs together seamlessly. It was also fantastic to hear from Jane about Trip.com's customer-first approach, like their commitment to answering customer calls within 30 seconds – truly impressive given the immense volume they must handle! Looking forward to seeing PDD continue to flourish and the groundbreaking innovations Jacqueline and her team will undoubtedly bring to life. Wei Boon, thank you for your generous sharing on GovTech's impressive digital transformation journey and its ambitious vision for serving Singaporeans. It was compelling to hear how GovTech, in partnership with Google Cloud, is driving innovation – from leveraging Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) for sensitive data and fostering agency-wide AI adoption through the "AI Trailblazers" program, to bolstering cyber defences with Chronicle. Crucially, he also emphasized the paramount importance of system resilience, proven by the impressive uptime of critical systems during Singapore's recent elections. On a more personal and truly admirable note, Wei Boon shared that he and many others at GovTech are participating in Hair for Hope to support children with cancer. It sounds like this might be the last time many of us see him with his current hairstyle before the big shave for this incredibly worthy cause! Glen Francis liked thisGlen Francis liked thisSpending time a CNBC CONVERGE LIVE this week was a timely reminder of what leadership really demands in this moment. In a world of increasing macro uncertainty and where technology is accelerating at extraordinary speed, two things are firmly front of mind for me. First, trust. Organisational resilience is non-negotiable, and this includes cybersecurity. Cyber threats are not abstract risks; they are real and evolving, and staying ahead isn’t just about investing in technology. We need to stay vigilant, humble and prepared to learn and adapt every day. Second, people. The speed of AI innovation is breathtaking as it becomes recursive and we get closer to AGI . But let’s work to ensure we remain focused on our fellow human stakeholders . AI can be a great source of positive impact if designed and used correctly and safely .That’s why I believe so strongly that the real work is not just adopting AI but helping our teams build the skills, judgement and guardrails to use it well. It underpins our ambition to be an AI-enabled bank with a heart. What gives me optimism is that these conversations are no longer theoretical. Leaders across industries are leaning into the hard questions about resilience, responsibility and how we bring our people along on the journey. INSPIRE is a treasure trove of insights, perspectives and real experiences highlighted through seven core themes or pillars: Integrity, New (Innovation), Strategy, People, Implementation, Relationship and Excellence.
INSPIRE beyond SG50 is part of CI0 Academy Asia's initiative to bring together ClOs, tech professionals and business executives and build a community where they can share insights, knowledge and experiences. INSPIRE would be useful reference for organisations going through digital transformation and for tech professionals faced with complex challenges. This book also hopes to inspire students and the next generation of tech professionals with the real stories and experiences of innovation and transformation.
