The Taiwanese government generally does not censor people's speech as a matter of opinion/ personal viewpoint. The media is free to report the news as detailed as possible.[1] However, there is still a gray area. In 2024, Taiwan considered blocking Telegram (software) due to a child pornography group using Telegram.[2] However, the government stopped after being criticized.

"Taobao Taiwan" was officially shut down in 2020.[3] It is not clear whether the decision was made due to direct pressure from the Taiwanese government. She merely required Taibao to re-register as a mainland Chinese company. [4]

Since December 2022, the installation of Douyin and TikTok on goernment devices has been banned.[5][6]

In February 2025, Taiwan asked the government personnel not to use DeepSeek.[7]
