1/ This line, that because a Chinese company has a minority stake in Hinkley Point C, the UK Labour government must be “anti-Scottish” to have blocked the Ming Yang wind turbine factory, on national security grounds, is very easily debunked.
2/ The Chinese involvement in new nuclear was a decision made in 2015 by the David Cameron government. gov.uk/government/new…Image
3/ And in 2022, the Rishi Sunak government reversed that position by moving to exclude any further Chinese involvement in new nuclear, on national security grounds. hansard.parliament.uk/Commons/2022-1…Image

1/ Simply using a 💩 emoji on the state-mandated Russian messenger app MAX is enough to result in a user being convicted and fined, or potentially even imprisoned. A recent court case highlights how the app is blatantly being used as an instrument of repression. ⬇️ Image
2/ The District Court of Rostov-on-Don has imposed a fine of 30,000 rubles ($387) on a man named Sergey Nikolaevich Korovayny. As the court's decision states:
3/ "On DD. MM. YYYY, S. N. Korovayny, registered and residing at: <address> -on- FULL NAME2 , <address> , a member of the common chat of the above-mentioned apartment building,…

A great day for Hungarians, Europe, and all who respect democracy and the rule of law. Magyar now carries that blessed burden of the people's will.
As for Orbán and his globalist elite sponsors, Trump and Putin, they will take this as another reason to avoid free and fair elections at all costs!
As nice as it is to make fun of Vance for failing to save Orban, it's not about him. Orban's kleptocracy failed the people. Most Hungarians couldn't care less what America and the Trump admin wanted. US influence has evaporated. They'd had enough of Russian interference already.

🧵For the record, I am not pro-woodchipper, or pro-porcupine, or pro-Iran. [Explained in #2] I am trying to keep the potentially coming Great Energy World War sea battles in the realm of reality, and not a recurring fantasy of our Navy's glory days of WW2.

This coming sea war will not be Tom Cruise in Top Gun slapping around Grenada, Panama, Libya or Venezuela. Iran can bite back.Image
2. I am not pro-woodchipper or pro-porcupine.
I'm trying to keep our side from doing extremely stupid things. Image

3. Already, we have exposed our inability to close with Iran. Sending 2 destroyers dashing in and back out while VP Vance was in Pakistan engaged in negotiations with Iran merely highlighted our reluctance to bring our main force near to Iran. This will have repercussions across Asia, and around the world, as nations realize that when push comes to shove, they will be not be able to depend on the US Navy to ride to their rescue.Image

@SHL0MS i strongly agree humans are not perusing arbitrary goals, just diverse ones. i suppose to me the question we're answering has always been "do we have confidence the goals of these minds will lead to global perpetual human flourishing", which is a pretty small target
@SHL0MS i don't think either my or eliezer's arguments actually need "the subspace has totally arbitrary correlation free goals", the argument just requires "we dont have very high confidence that the structure very strongly gives us good goals"
@SHL0MS the line of "general mindspace is unconstrained goal wise -> we don't know very much about any individual construction mechanism so we don't have such confidence there -> some realizable (human) minds already have goals that would destroy humanity if scaled up" seems to hold ?

PSA that we retroactively ran an AI writing detector over all the pitches we got, and found that we advanced human-written pitches ~2.4x as often as AI-generated pitches.
1/3
2/3
- We did not have AI writing detectors running when we initially vetted the pitches
- Some AI-generated pitches were great, and we focused on the content, not on punishing LLM "tells"
- ≥2 humans vetted all initial 500 pitches, plus one Claude
- about half of pitches were >80% AI, if the detectors are to be trusted, which they probably aren't
3/3 My thinking is:
- AI can turn a busy person's 50-page doc on an idea into a great pitch
- AI cannot just ingest our RFP and produce a great pitch as a response (yet)

So the people who had an idea spelled out could use AI to refactor it and do a good job, and the people who didn't couldn't.

Moving forward we'll use AI writing detectors but not punish AI writing in isolation -- only when also coupled with a lack of substance, which low-context AI writing is prone to producing.

Petrol excise will also be reduced by a further 10 cent (VAT inclusive), bringing the total reduction to 27 cent per litre.

Green diesel (Marked Gas Oil) will see a further 2.4 cent reduction (VAT inclusive),
bringing the total reduction to 7.4 cent per litre.

These reductions include the previously announced NORA levy adjustments.

Government will also defer the planned Carbon Tax increase, due on 1 May, until Budget 2026.

This will benefit users of home heating fuels

How to ASK FOR S#X

1. Speak like a man Image
Don’t say “Can we?”

Say “Come here.”

Speak like a man who knows what he wants but still respects her.

Command presence, not compliance.

Women respond to grounded direction, not needy permission.
2. Don't ask.

You don’t ask for it.

You CREATE it.

Eye contact, tone, proximity, subtle touches, FOREPLAY...

After you feel she'd die for your d***, you can begin to touch her genitals slowly and pull her clothes slowly off.

If you have to ask, the energy’s NOT there yet.

On two occasions today, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers rammed UNIFIL vehicles with a Merkava tank, in one case causing significant damage. The soldiers had blocked a road in Bayada that is used to access UNIFIL positions.
Over the past week, Israeli soldiers have fired “warning shots” in the area, striking and damaging clearly identifiable UNIFIL vehicles. In one case, a “warning shot” landed a metre away from a peacekeeper who had dismounted his vehicle.
Israeli soldiers have continually blocked peacekeepers’ movements on this road in recent days, in addition to denials of freedom of movement recorded in other areas.

@MarkMariani11 No. You're blaspheming. The Bible doesn't say that. The Bible is poetry, philosophy, and teaching lessons from experience through analogies & metaphors.
Don't pretend to know it by reciting (at best) some verses (like other religions making stupid).
1/2
@MarkMariani11 The Bible was made to be understood (& not to be recited without understanding by Anglosaxon-idiots like you) !
That will make you a good Christian or Jew (or even Muslim, for those who remember that the Bible was originally part of Islamic teachings).
