Today we have published our consultation on the draft second preliminary Strategic Direction Statement (SDS) for industry codes. The SDS sets out Ofgem’s strategic assessment of government policies and energy sector developments that may require changes to energy codes. This second iteration builds on the first preliminary SDS, published in 2025, providing an updated assessment to help coordinate and prioritise strategic change within the energy codes over the next 1 – 5 years. We are seeking views on the proposed content of the SDS, including whether any key areas that may require code changes are missing from our assessment. The consultation is open until 28 May 2026. We welcome feedback from code administrators, prospective code managers, industry participants and other interested stakeholders. Read the consultation and find out how to respond here: https://ow.ly/nPcr50YCbLG
