Formed in 2009, the Archive Team (not to be confused with the archive.org Archive-It Team) is a rogue archivist collective dedicated to saving copies of rapidly dying or deleted websites for the sake of history and digital heritage. The group is 100% composed of volunteers and interested parties, and has expanded into a large amount of related projects for saving online and digital history.
History is littered with hundreds of conflicts over the future of a community, group, location or business that were "resolved" when one of the parties stepped ahead and destroyed what was there. With the original point of contention destroyed, the debates would fall to the wayside. Archive Team believes that by duplicated condemned data, the conversation and debate can continue, as well as the richness and insight gained by keeping the materials. Our projects have ranged in size from a single volunteer downloading the data to a small-but-critical site, to over 100 volunteers stepping forward to acquire terabytes of user-created data to save for future generations.
The main site for Archive Team is at archiveteam.org and contains up to the date information on various projects, manifestos, plans and walkthroughs.
This collection contains the output of many Archive Team projects, both ongoing and completed. Thanks to the generous providing of disk space by the Internet Archive, multi-terabyte datasets can be made available, as well as in use by the Wayback Machine, providing a path back to lost websites and work.
Our collection has grown to the point of having sub-collections for the type of data we acquire. If you are seeking to browse the contents of these collections, the Wayback Machine is the best first stop. Otherwise, you are free to dig into the stacks to see what you may find.
The Archive Team Panic Downloads are full pulldowns of currently extant websites, meant to serve as emergency backups for needed sites that are in danger of closing, or which will be missed dearly if suddenly lost due to hard drive crashes or server failures.
To use ArchiveBot, drop by #archivebot on EFNet. To interact with ArchiveBot, you issue commands by typing it into the channel. Note you will need channel operator permissions in order to issue archiving jobs. The dashboard shows the sites being downloaded currently.
There is a dashboard running for the archivebot process at http://www.archivebot.com.
ArchiveBot's source code can be found at https://github.com/ArchiveTeam/ArchiveBot.

WhatsApp is a fast, simple and reliable way to talk to anyone in the world. More than 2 billion people in over 180 countries use WhatsApp to stay in touch with friends and family, anytime and anywhere. WhatsApp is not only free but also available on multiple mobile devices and in low connectivity areas – making it accessible and reliable wherever you are. It is a simple and secure way to share your favorite moments, send important information or catch up with a friend. WhatsApp helps people connect and share no matter where they are in the world.
WhatsApp is the world’s largest end-to-end encrypted (e2ee) messaging platform. Over 2 billion people across 180 countries use WhatsApp to stay in touch with friends and family and we continue to grow rapidly. We are also expanding into new product areas like payments and commerce by for example enabling small businesses to promote & sell products on WhatsApp. The WhatsApp Server Engineering (Infra) team builds the platform to make messaging work in WhatsApp. Besides growth and new features, WhatsApp infra is quickly becoming a platform that powers reliable e2ee conversations as other messaging products in the Facebook family are looking to become end-to-end encrypted. We are arguably the largest Messaging Platform in the world.
The team’s expertise and responsibilities go well beyond "just" the infrastructure. It also includes client protocols and encryption, details of many specific client facing features and flows. Most new developments in the consumer messaging product result in some involvement from one or more WhatsApp Messaging Infra teams.
Are you a seasoned engineer interested in helping build and grow our messaging infrastructure? Are you driven, curious, have a high engineering bar, and are passionate about building reliable software? We’d love to talk to you. At WhatsApp you will face problems and complexity that you likely won’t have seen before.
The Consumer Engineering team builds the Apps that are used by all of WhatsApp’s 2+ Billion users every single day. And these are “full native” applications leveraging the best technologies and features available across all of the platforms we support. From mobile phones to desktops to emerging market devices.
We’re looking for engineers that carry our passion for enabling the world to communicate easily and privately with openings in every team. Come work with us to deliver the next generation of calling, messaging, expression, community, application infrastructure, or tooling - at planetary scale!
Our mission at WhatsApp is to connect the world privately. Engineering work required to make this happen includes building infrastructure to make privacy easier at scale, as well as building products that raise the industry-wide bar on private messaging. Privacy is part of everything we do, so engineers in WhatsApp privacy get to work across many different teams and functions.
We’re looking for engineers to help us define and build the new frontier in private messaging, while tackling the many challenges that come with operating a service at 2+ billion users.
WhatsApp Integrity org’s mission is to protect WhatsApp users, platform, and society as a whole from a number of harms, while maintaining the highest privacy bar in the world. The harms we deal with are very diverse: spam, misinformation, election interfering, scams, child safety, terrorism, compromised and fake accounts, malware, data scraping, violations of business and commerce policies, impersonation, payments fraud, and so on.
The Integrity org tends to hire a large number of Machine Learning engineers, but we also hire Infrastructure and Product engineers as well. In addition to building various machine learning classifiers, we build features that help users protect themselves, as well as the tools for human agents who are involved in fighting harms.
WhatsApp Integrity engineers collaborate with the rest of WhatsApp, other Meta Integrity orgs, ML researchers, and with Integrity orgs of other global technology companies.
Payments - Sending money to friends & family and paying merchants for goods & services is a natural extension to the private messaging that occurs on WhatsApp's network. WhatsApp Payments is a cross-platform engineering team powering person-to-person (P2P) and person-to-merchant (P2M) payments on WhatsApp's consumer and business platforms.
Role: We are looking for a payments expert with prior knowledge in engineering payments systems to build foundational infrastructure for transfers, sales and also large products such as checkout, merchant experiences, remittances on top of the infra."
Launched in 2018, WA Business app is an app focussed at helping small and medium businesses (SMB) build their official brand on WA, reach more customers, manage their customer conversations, and showcase their offerings. It provides a set of features that wouldn’t be available to users of the free WhatsApp messaging app, like business profile, catalog, cart, automated quick replies, greeting messages, FAQs, away messaging, statistics, and more.
We are also introducing a Premium service for WA Business users. This will have features that help businesses scale their business with WA and reach more customers. Initial offering of the service would let them connect up to 10 devices and also provide new customizable WhatsApp click-to-chat links that help businesses attract customers across their online presence, including of course, Meta’s other applications like Facebook and Instagram.
Our charter for the next few years would be to build the premium offering, grow the SMB platform and provide rich and valuable experiences for Businesses to connect and transact with their customers.
