UltraHD 2K Video IP Camera with PTZ and Dual Band WIFI from Amcrest
5 out of 5 stars
UltraHD 2K Video IP Camera with PTZ and Dual Band WIFI from Amcrest
Amcrest UltraHD 2K IP3M-941B IP camera is one of Amcrest's latest product with 3-Megapixel / 1296P video quality. This camera has built-in PTZ (Pan/Tile/Zoom) feature and also a wide 90 degree field of view. The package includes Amcrest IP3M-941B Camera, Network Cable, 10 Foot Power Adapter/cable, Mounting stand and kit, CD/Quick Start Guide. This IP camera is easy to setup just like other Amcrest IP camera. After installing "Amcrest View Pro" app, I connected the camera with Ethernet (Do NOT use wireless for first-time setup unless you're very tech-savvy), and followed on screen prompt to easily access live view of the camera. I have also setup this with the popular third party app - Tinycam Monitor, please see my video for a quick walk-through. The GUI of Amcrest View Pro is very straight-forward and PTZ control can be done with swiping around the screen or pitch to zoom. The unit also has built-in IR LED for night vision even though they are not visible from outside. The app is available in both Google Play and Apple Appstore. and I could also access more IP camera settings by logging in with a browser. Amcrest does have a windows software to allocate IP camera IP if user isn't familiar with how to find it. PROs: - Ultra High Definition 3MP/1296P Video at 20fps OR 2MP/1080p at 30fps with latest Ambarella Chipset to ensure video quality/ constant frame rate. I didn't notice much video capture lag (less than 0.5sec) with good network connection. Night view is clear with not too many noise presenting. The unit is listed to support up to 32 feet night vision. - PTZ support. Being able to Pan/Tile/Zoom is a huge advantage for an IP camera as we can remotely control the unit to access other areas. The PTZ control is pretty responsive when I tried and the only thing is that it couldn't tilt lower than horizontal. - 2 way communication support. This is one of the few IP cameras from Amcrest with 2 way talk support. I can hear/talk clearly with the visitor next to the IP camera. Do note that the microphone has limited range and it's roughly half a feet away from the camera. - Dual band support. Finally there is an IP camera supporting both 2.4G and 5GHz. I live in a community and the interference from other residents' router is just too much in 2.4G. I'm glad that I can use the less congested 5G with this IP camera. There is no external antenna but I do find the connection is strong at a distance of 20 feet. I didn't have chance to test further away. - Prompt Amcrest live support. I contacted them regarding how to mount the IP camera and they responded me with a youtube video tutorial in less than a day. - Free Motion Alerts, Email Alerts/Snapshots as well as Mobile App notification and Web GUI accessible using browser. It's nice that we can setup motion detection zones. Free Amcrest cloud recording up to 1 IP cam/ 4 hours. Note: - This model is targeted at indoor use it's not waterproof. Wish List: - I really hope Amcrest could add IFTTT support into their IP camera line up.

I purchased 2 of these cameras to replace much older static, 640x480 IP cameras from another manufacturer that we use to monitor the pets in our home and provide basic security. I purchased SD cards to go into the cameras to store recorded video. The extra long power cord does make it easier to get power to them out of the box, but unless you purchase a DC power extension cable, you still face limitations based upon location of electrical outlets. They were easy to setup via the Amcrest App downloaded to my smartphone to get it basically working for in home and remote viewing. The resolution is great, picture is clear day or night. PTZ lets us see areas we couldn't before; you do have to get used to the network lag time between sending commands and actual execution if viewing from outside your home. But with a little practice it becomes second nature. I spent time changing settings on the cameras and my home router to ensue they were as secure as possible and so I wasn't totally dependent on Amcrest services. If your aren't so inclined, you may want to seek help in advance configuration of the camera and your network. I find the Amcrest Surveillance Pro program for turning your computer into a viewing, configuration, and NVR good, but a little cumbersome in its user interface. The Amcrest Web View program is good for configuring camera settings, but the live view doesn't work. Also their Webplugin that provides live view in web browsers isn't compatible with the latest versions of Firefox, IE, Edge browsers. For Chrome you can download a separate Chrome app to view cameras online that does work. I also have configured and used the cameras successfully with tinyCam Pro app; except for establishing connection with HTTPS that allow PTZ control. I want to add similar cameras outside my home now as well,

After soooo much research for a proper baby camera, I was guided to look into the security sector for something really suitable. Thanks to watching many blogs and reading tech articles, this camera stood out to my husband's and my needs. We wanted to be able to access this camera through wifi, from anywhere in the world, have great night-vision, and be able to hear and talk to our baby if needed. This camera has it all! First of all, the image is great and the connection for us/the smooth live feed is just perfect. It is basically in "real-time." Please don't blame the camera is the wifi or connection is not so good where you are. We have a relatively strong wifi signal and have had no complaints. At times, it did stagger, like during a thunderstorm here, but otherwise, it has been very smooth in STANDARD mode. HD mode does lag for us. But we found the quality in standard to already be very sufficient!

Now in terms of setting it up: while it looked simple, I just couldn't get it to connect to our wifi at first. While I'm not incredibly savvy, I am sufficiently so and did read the articles/watched videos on Amcrest's site but could not figure it out. So, I contacted their technical support, which is available to every customer and a gentleman, specifically Gary Hyler, was able to remotely access my computer and the camera and set everything up for me and to answer ALL of my questions, while I watched it being done for me on my screen. Honestly, this was priceless support! Everything was up and running in a matter of 20 minutes and I was more than satisfied! I loved this kind of assistance (yes, it was basically somebody holding my hand through the whole process) but I didn't want there to be any mistakes. Honestly, this is an excellent product and we will be buying a second one for baby number 2 who is on his way shortly!

I've had this for over two months now. This has been much better than all of the Foscams, Kamtrons and earlier Amcrests that I've been using over the past 8 years. I work out of my basement, which has no windows. I put a wifi camera in an upstairs window so that I can see the weather and see anyone coming up to the house.

I didn't think I'd like the wider 90 deg FOV (vs 60-70 deg), but given the 3MP resolution, the picture is great:
    - I can see three houses across the street (maybe 75 ft away... standard 1990s suburbia... maybe 1/8 acre lots)
    - I can tell who the person is that is walking the sidewalk across the street (if I know them)

I use a dedicated cheap PC to host the camera. I place a 26" monitor on a shelf above my office desk as my virtual window to the outdoors. Color is great. The date/time display is clear and crisp.

Installation did not work as per the manual. Unfortunately, it took some twiddling and experimentation to get the PC to see the camera using a browser (this really should be plug-n-play in 2017). It was frustrating to have to mess with this, but the picture makes it worth it.

You won't get anywhere near the 30 frames/sec any manufacturer advertises. These cameras have to shove a lot of pixels through the wifi pipe... 30 frames/sec ain't gonna work. To attempt to get the 30 frames/sec I believe what they do is only send the pixels that change from frame to frame. So, if your scene only has a few pixels changing (maybe 5% of the scene) you might get 10 frames/sec. In my case, if a car drives down the cul-de-sac at 15 MPH (5-10% pixels changes) I get 2-4 frames/sec (the car jerks in 5-10 ft steps across my screen). If the wind picks up and all of the trees are moving, then the frame rate slows to about 2-4 frames/sec (the picture is jerky). If it's only a single person walking on the sidewalk (1% of the scene), the motion is pretty smooth.

I'm very happy that the wifi and computer connection seems very robust. It will be solid for a few weeks at a time. I leave the computer and camera running all the time. I just turn the monitor off/on as I need in the office. Every few weeks, Windows10 does an upgrade/reboot and I have to log back into the camera. I've had power go out in the house a few times now. All I had to do was log back into the camera (with my Foscam, I had to recycle power and login many times before the PC would connect to the camera). I use a fixed IP address for the camera and the hosting PC.

I bought this camera as the reviews are very good it is a little strange to set up as you have use a tone signal from your phone to the camera but you can also scan the QR code . I have had this camera for sometime now and I am pleased with the HD picture quality and the over all use of app once you get to know how to navigate it . The camera is well made I like the PZT features and the storage of images on a SD card feature works for me as the on line server is a little bit of bother and requires amcrest other app to use ..

    1.0 out of 5 stars Insoddisfatto dell’acquisto
Reviewed in Italy on July 3, 2020

Excellent cams and software. The Amcrest 941b cams have almost everything a person wanting from a security camera in the one package. The only thing missing is tracking which is totally unrealistic at this price point. Do yourself a favour, if you're protecting them from the elements you can't go past these units unless you also need tracking.

2.0 out of 5 stars Deluso per una semplice mancanza
Reviewed in Italy on June 15, 2020
