Invite teachers and students to your class
You can invite teachers and students from your school to your class by entering their email addresses, sharing invite links, or importing your Google Classroom class. When inviting students below 13, make sure to get parental consent first.
Who can do this?
- Canva Education - Team owner, team admin, and teachers
- Canva for Districts - Organization admin, school team admin, and teachers
- Canva for Campus - Organization admin and team admin
Get parental consent
In line with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”) (if applicable) and our Privacy Policy, students below 13 need parental consent to use Canva Education.
Before you invite students into your class, check if you need to get parental consent first.
- In the United States, the FTC who enforces COPPA has provided guidance that schools or districts may act as a parent’s agent and provide consent on their behalf.
- If your education institution has signed up for Canva institution-wide, your administrators may already have a process in place for confirming parent permission for students to use Canva. Please check with your tech admins if you are unsure.
- If you require consent forms, you can use this sample consent template to help teachers get consent.
It’s your institution’s responsibility to determine how to use Canva and to ensure it meets your requirements. Include your school’s contact information and details about the services that you enable, and share it along with resources about Canva’s Privacy Policy.

Students without an invite
If a student doesn’t have an invite and isn’t yet using Canva, they can sign up with their school email address to access Canva Education.
- Select Education, then choose I’m a student.
- On the homepage, select Check eligibility.
- Select Get started.
- Canva displays school teams that match the student’s email address.
From there, the student can:
- Select their school, then select Request to join. A school team admin reviews and approves or declines the request.
- Select My school isn’t here if their school doesn’t appear in the list.
- Skip this step if they prefer to continue without joining a school team.
