Custom thank you cards

Typical thank you card sizes are 5 x 7 and 3 x 5 inches. If you are sending out thank you cards in bulk, you might choose the smaller size. If you are sending out fewer cards and want them to be more personalized, choose the larger size so you can write more.

Thank you notes begin by addressing the recipient by name, then expressing gratitude for their attendance at your event or whatever other contribution to your life that you’d like to recognize. Finally, mention the next time you hope to see each other. Keep your note simple but heartfelt.

When you make your own thank you card, consider coming up with a central idea or theme to base the design and text on. This’ll keep the overall look and feel of your thank you card more cohesive.

Whether you’re making printable or online thank you cards, the best font is simple and clear, and between 10 and 12 points. Popular fonts for thank you cards include Calibri, Times New Roman, Arial, Garamond, Helvetica and Palatino. Choose the typography that best fits the mood and tone of your relationship with the recipient.

The thickness of your thank you cards depends on your paper and finish selection. Paper thickness is measured in PT (point), and we also consider the weight of the card, which is measured in GSM (grams per square meter).

We have selected the best paper stocks so you can choose from our mid-weight Premium paper (10pt thickness, 240–300gsm weight) or our thickest Deluxe paper (13pt thickness, 350gsm weight).

The best thank you card shape and layout boils down to your personal preference. However, each format offers something different.

Landscape layouts are often best for wide, landscape photos and artwork. The width provides you with more room to place text without it seeming chunky and overwhelming. Portrait layouts, on the other hand, are great for portrait photos and vertical images and design elements. Square layouts aren’t as common, so they add a bit of uniqueness to your custom thank you card.

Adding envelopes to your thank you card order is your choice! We don’t want to send envelopes by default and cause unnecessary waste, so you decide at checkout if you need them or not.

Thanks for asking! It is recommended to always use fonts that are 7pt or bigger to ensure legibility. Smaller fonts may look big on your screen but won’t print well if too small. Also, consider using sans-serif fonts for smaller lines of text. Sans serif fonts don’t have the small features on the ends of strokes, like the classic Helvetica font.

If you are using images and designs from our library, and you print with us, there’s nothing to worry about. All our designs and images are optimized for print. If you are uploading photography or non-vector artwork (e.g. JPEGs), please make sure they are no less than 96dpi (ideally at 300 dpi). If your thank you card design is a mix of photos and graphics, make sure the embedded images used are above the recommended pixel sizes.
