What’s New for the 2024 Ram 1500

For 2024, the Ram 1500 TRX super-truck enters its final year (for now?), and Ram is celebrating with a TRX Final Edition. It features unique colors and badging. Elsewhere, the Ram 1500 Tradesman Warlock returns, adding off-road kit to the affordable entry-level trim.

Design

The Ram 1500 lineup for 2023 includes the Tradesman, Big Horn, Rebel, Limited Longhorn, Limited, and TRX. The TRX boasts wider fenders, a taller suspension, and all-terrain tires.

Powertrain

The base engine in the 2023 Ram 1500 is a 3.6-liter V6 engine. It makes 305 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. A 5.7-liter Hemi V8 is available, putting out 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. And for the truly bold, the Ram 1500 TRX comes fitted with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine with 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed through an eight-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels or to available four-wheel drive (4WD) with low range. When properly equipped (5.7-liter V8, 4x2, quad-cab, Tradesman, long bed), the Ram 1500 can tow up to 12,750 pounds.

The most efficient version of the ’24 Ram 1500 is the base V6 engine with rear-wheel drive (RWD). It returns fuel economy of 20 mpg city, 25 highway, and 22 combined. With 4WD, fuel economy with this engine falls to 19 mpg city, 24 highway, and 21 combined. The 5.7-liter V8 with 4WD returns fuel economy of 18 mpg city, 22 highway, 19 combined. The least-efficient version is the Ram TRX, which returns just 10 mpg city, 14 highway, and 12 combined. The V6 can run on regular fuel, the 5.7-liter V8 requires mid-grade, and the supercharged V8 requires premium fuel.

Interior

The Ram 1500 is offered in regular cab, quad cab (extended cab) and full four-door crew cab. The latter boasts tons of cabin space. On two-row models, the rear seat folds up, providing a usable cargo floor. The Tradesman trim comes equipped with vinyl seats, while the Big Horn trim comes with cloth seats. Stepping up to the Limited Longhorn adds leather upholstery. Available features on the Ram 1500 includes power-adjustable seats, heated and ventilated seats, a heated steering wheel, and a panoramic moonroof.

Technology

The Tradesman trim comes equipped with a basic 5-inch infotainment display. An 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is optional on the Big Horn and Rebel trims, and it comes standard on all but the TRX, which receives a massive 12-inch touchscreen. This largest screen is available on all but the Tradesman trim.

Safety

The 2023 Ram 1500 comes standard with a backup camera, but most of the driver-assistance features are either optional or come equipped on upper-level trims. These features include forward collision mitigation, lane-departure warning, a head-up display, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.

Pricing

At the time of this writing, the 2024 Ram 1500 has a base MSRP of $38,570 for a Tradesman trim. The Big Horn starts at $44,030, and the Laramie starts at $54,030. The Rebel starts at $58,745, the Limited Longhorn starts at $61,340, and the Limited starts at $65,205. The Ram 1500 is backed by a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty.
