Welcome back, beautiful friends! I recently shared my top furniture makeovers and my top decor makeovers from the past year, and three of my top posts were actually smalls posts! Instead of including them in my countdown, I decided to do another large round up of simple smalls makeovers!
See my last smalls round up that included over 30 mini makeovers HERE.
Most of these mini makeovers are from the past year of my Painting the Smalls series. I’ll start at the beginning of the year and work my way to the most recent.
Lots of makeover inspiration ahead!
Maybe you’ll be inspired to update things you already have in your home!

Because I have so many to share, I won’t be including any in-progress shots, but you can find more details about each makeover by clicking the link I’ve provided below each one.
Here are 25 Simple Smalls Makeovers!
ENJOY!
Mini Makeover #1
First up is this pretty lamp that I got for an absolute steal at only $1.98 on clearance at the thrift store:

Y’all know how much I love clearance at the thrift store!
I painted it in this soft, Driftwood color and highlighted the details with white wax. That sealed it also…

The shade was a HomeGoods find for 16.99 and did wonders for this lamp. I don’t mind having to buy the shade when I can get such a great deal on the lamp!
Such pretty lines!

Mini Makeover #2
Next up is this shelf that originally came from HomeGoods. I found it at the thrift store for $3.99:

I knew a simple whitewash using Cotton white paint would do wonders! I just applied the paint and then wiped it off with a rag.
I love the result!

This one was sealed with Easy Peasy Spray Wax.

The white paint made such a difference!

Makeover number three is this boring basket I picked up for $3.98:

I did a similar treatment with this basket using Cotton paint, applying it and wiping it back off with a rag.
It sold the day I dropped it off at my booth!

I love this look for these orange-y baskets!

Mini Makeover #4
Next up is this small box that I picked up for $5:

Tea Rose, Cotton and Gold Gilding Wax rescued this one!

The inside got some leftover transfer pieces:

Mini Makeover #5
This next one only cost me a dollar!

After priming with Bonding BOSS, I stuck with the Tea Rose and Gold Gilding Wax color palette on this one…
Such a snazzy update for this boring tray! Leftover transfer pieces dressed this one up too!

Mini Makeover #6
One thing I always grab are big, ugly baskets. I am always amazed at what paint can do for them! I took a chance on this one for $4.99:

I painted this one in Savannah Mist using my Belle Brush, and then I highlighted the details by dry brushing using Cotton to add a bit of texture.
This one didn’t last long!

And the weave looks so cool painted!

Mini Makeover #7
This next piece is one I had intended to keep for myself. I believe I paid $4.99 for it:

I painted it in Fluff, shabbied it up good, and then embellished it with the Mystic Hydrangea transfer.
It turned out so pretty!

I sealed all over with Clear Coat in Satin using the blue sponge, and it has held up quite well with use!

Mini Makeover #8
This next piece is one of those mass-produced pieces that are easy to pass up, but shelves typically sell well, so I picked it up at the thrift store for only $4.98:

I’m amazed at what a little Sea Glass did for this one:

I just dry brushed the metal areas…

Mini Makeover #9
Next up is another shelf I found for $9.98 at the thrift store:

I painted it in three coats of Cotton, and then, to highlight all those pretty details, I sanded with 220 grit sandpaper.

I opted to seal this one with Best Dang Wax in clear since those metal pieces can pull pink tones through with liquid sealers.

Mini Makeover #10
I love finding cute lamps! This was a great find for $4.98:

The shade seemed a bit on the small side, but I had one left from another lamp that was perfect for this one.
Painting the base in Cotton, and adding some of the Salon de Diane transfer to the shade did wonders!

Mini Makeover #11
This next one was another plain tray I picked up for only $2:

I decided to go with Weeping Willow on this one giving it two coats. I also added these feet that I decided to keep natural…

For the inside, I mixed Weeping Willow 50/50 with Cotton to get a lighter shade so I could add stripes. I then embellished it further by adding pieces of the Pastels Artistry transfer:

Up next is what looks like a toiletry jar that I found for $2.98:

This one got a couple of coats of a lovely leftover French Linen/Cotton 50/50 mix I had, and then the details were highlighted with a little gold Gilding Wax:

This inside was already this brilliant gold, so that was perfect!

Mini Makeover #13
Mini Makeover number twelve is this sign that I picked up for half off of $6.99:

I started this one with a coat of Bonding BOSS since it was metal. This one got a summer update using one of my favorite summertime hues, Farmhouse Green. I used my Silhouette to help with the letters!

It literally got a summer update lol. This did not sell in my booth this summer, however, so we’ll try again next summer!

Mini Makeover #14
Here’s another orange-y basket begging for a makeover! This one was $2.98:

I gave it the very same treatment as the earlier whitewashed basket. Then I painted some of it solid and added feet.

Much more updated now!

Mini Makeover #15
This frame was only 99¢, so I grabbed it up!

It certainly needed some love, so I gave it some with Caviar paint and the Blossom Botanica Transfer:

I knew that wide frame would be perfect for a transfer! Oh and yep, it’s a chalkboard now too…

FUN WITH CHEAP FRAMES
Mini Makeover #16
Here’s another simple basket makeover. I picked this one up for $3.99:

I did a whitewash look once again, this time using Fluff.

This would be ideal for holding extra TP in the bathroom…

Mini Makeover #17
Next up is this oval silver plated tray I found at the thrift store for $4:

It got a coat of Bonding BOSS bonding primer in white first, and after waiting 24 hours, I painted it in two coats of Sea Glass.

And the inside got some love using the White Magnolia transfer:

Next up is this urn I picked up at the thrift store for $5.99:

With those gorgeous details, all it needed was a couple of coats of Fluff!
It’s so pretty here holding flowers…

I did sand here and there to highlight those details…

Mini Makeover #19
Up next is this super dated looking cork board that I got for the low low price of $2:

It was in rough shape, but nothing that a little TLC, Fluff, and the Froggy Meadow Greens transfer couldn’t take care of!

Oh yeah, and I swapped out that old cork for a chalkboard. SO much better!

Mini Makeover #20
I picked up this next piece for $4.98 thinking I could replace the shade:

Turns out, it was not removable, so I had to keep it.
I ended up painting the base in a 50/50 mix of Vintage Duck Egg Blue and Cotton.
Just that one small change did improve the look of this lamp, but I wasn’t sure it would sell…

However, It sold almost right away! Who knew?

PAINTING THE SMALLS #29
Mini Makeover #21
Here’s another ugly basket I found. This one was $5.99:

Paint to the rescue! I used 40% The Gulf, 40% Vintage Duck Egg Blue, and 20% Cotton for this one.

This one didn’t waste anytime selling either!

PAINTED BASKETS
Mini Makeover #22
The next couple came from the metal edition of Painting the Smalls where everything was well…metal. I prep most metal pieces with Bonding BOSS which is an adhesion primer as well as a stain blocking primer.
I got this one for $5.99:

Two coats of Cotton and a little distressing later…

Love this look!

PAINTING THE SMALLS #30
Mini Makeover #23
I found this pitcher at a yard sale for $5:

I had some fun with this one!

So cute! This transfer is from the Classic Vintage Labels set that is sadly no longer available. (Hoping they bring it back or replace it with something similar.)

Mini Makeover #24
This basket came from a yard sale where everything was a dollar!

Another unfortunate basket rescued by the power of paint!
This is, once again, one of my favorite custom mixes, a combination of Vintage Duck Egg, The Gulf, and Cotton:

So much better, right? This sold the day I dropped it at my booth!

PAINTING THE SMALLS #31
Mini Makeover #25
This next one is another $1 find that actually came from an estate sale:

Fluff and the White Magnolia transfer gave this pretty piece an updated new look!

Mini Makeover #26
This mirror was also only $1:

It got a very simple redo as well:

Such a sweet piece now! I actually kept this one.

Mini Makeover #27
I’ll wrap up this fun mini makeover round up with one of my favorites! This little table was unbelievably only a dollar as well:

Fluff, a tiny bit of Weeping Willow, and the Blossom Botanica Transfer really made this one pretty!

So much better!

PAINTING THE SMALLS #31
