Chief Executive Officer

Location: Remote, employees & board members are scattered across the US, with many key members located in NYC, Dallas, San Diego, Atlanta, etc. Best to be on the East Coast though, near a major airport.

Summary:

Veteran-founded in 2012, our client is a national non-profit mental health organization committed to providing barrier-free, confidential, and stigma-free PTSD treatment to veterans, service members, and military families. The organization’s mission is to help clients by delivering best-in-class outpatient care through an extensive network of military-connected clinicians—carefully selected based on individual client needs.

The ideal candidate is a former military service person, a visionary and values-driven executive with experience in for-profit business development, veteran services, and/or mission-focused nonprofit leadership.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Mission Advancement

  • Lead the development and execution of a long-term strategic vision aligned with the mission of providing world-class PTSD treatment to the military community.
  • Serve as an inspirational ambassador for the organization, advancing its public profile and strengthening its reputation as a leader in veteran mental health.

Development, Fundraising & External Relations

  • Be the charismatic face of the organization.
  • Serve as the organization’s lead fundraiser in partnership with the Board and development team. Ensure the sales/donor team understands strategic initiatives and is held accountable to proper sales funnel and KPIs.
  • Plan and execute on the yearly Gala but also drive fundraising events in separate geographical regions.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with major donors, foundations, corporate partners, and government stakeholders to secure sustained and diversified revenue.

Operational & Organizational Management

  • Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure effective, compliant, and mission-aligned delivery of clinical services across in-person and telehealth platforms in all 50 states.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing senior leadership team; foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and equity. This includes succession planning and strong board interaction.

Board Partnership & Governance

  • Collaborate closely with the Board of Directors to ensure strong governance, strategic alignment, and organizational health.

Clinical Network & Program Oversight

  • Ensure the organization maintains a high-quality, military-informed clinical provider network capable of delivering best-in-class PTSD treatment.


Qualifications

Required

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in for-profit, nonprofit organizations, healthcare, veteran services, or a related mission-driven field.
  • Strong fundraising and/or revenue-generation skills, especially with high-net-worth donors and institutional funders.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Deep commitment and passion to serving veterans, service members, and military families.

Preferred

  • 5+ years of military service
  • Experience in mental health or healthcare service organizations.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care, behavioral health systems, or clinical program management.
  • Advanced degree in business, public administration, nonprofit management, psychology, public health, or related fields.
