Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, optimize, and support our data infrastructure across on‑premises and cloud environments. This role oversees SQL Server clusters and MongoDB instances (including containerized deployments) while ensuring high availability, security, performance, and compliance.
The DBA will collaborate with developers, system engineers, and business stakeholders to design, implement, and maintain resilient database solutions supporting mission‑critical applications. This includes performance tuning, migration support, backup and recovery strategies, business continuity planning, Veeam‑aligned backup administration, and adherence to ITIL change management practices.
This position operates on Eastern Standard Time (EST) business hours to align with core team schedules.
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain on‑prem SQL Server clusters and MongoDB databases (including containerized deployments).
- Manage cloud-based database services (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, MongoDB Atlas).
- Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies for optimal efficiency.
- Design, implement, and validate backup, recovery, and disaster recovery (DR/BCP) strategies, including Veeam‑based backups.
- Ensure database security, role-based access control, and compliance with data governance and regulatory standards.
- Automate routine DBA tasks using scripts and automation tools.
- Support migration initiatives across on‑prem and cloud environments following structured change processes.
- Collaborate with development teams on schema design, indexing strategies, and query performance optimization.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues promptly.
- Document configurations, processes, migrations, and operational runbooks.
- Participate in capacity planning, scalability assessments, and architecture improvements.
- Support CI/CD pipelines for database deployments and integrate database versioning practices.
- Follow and contribute to ITIL-aligned change management processes and framework practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 4+ years of experience as a DBA managing SQL Server (required) and MongoDB (beneficial).
- Strong understanding of database architecture, replication, clustering, and high availability design.
- Experience with containerized MongoDB deployments (Docker/Kubernetes).
- Proficiency in T‑SQL and MongoDB query languages.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and managed database services.
- Demonstrated experience with backup/recovery strategies, DR planning, and Veeam.
- Experience with performance monitoring tools (SQL Profiler, Performance Monitor, MongoDB Ops Manager).
- Knowledge of data security, privacy, and compliance standards (HIPAA, PII, etc.).
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical thinking, and root‑cause analysis skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Experience following ITIL change management processes in production environments.
- Experience supporting database migrations and structured release processes.
Beneficial Experience

- Database version control tools (Redgate, Liquibase).
- Exposure to BI tools (Power BI, SSRS) and ETL workflows (SSIS).
- Knowledge of Kubernetes or DevOps deployment practices.
- Familiarity with healthcare data standards (HL7) and regulatory compliance.
- FinOps or cost optimization experience in cloud database environments (bonus).
