KSPS PBS has served the Inland Northwest for over 60 years, connecting communities through trusted public media. Now, at a pivotal moment in our organization's history, we are seeking a Director of Development to help shape its next chapter.
KSPS PBS is seeking a strategic and collaborative Director of Development to lead a strong, established fundraising program generating approximately $4.8 million annually. This is a pivotal leadership opportunity at a financially stable, mission-driven public media organization serving communities across the Inland Northwest, Western Canada, and beyond. KSPS PBS enters this next chapter from a position of strength, with $12.1 million in total assets, $9.3 million in net assets, and more than two years of liquid operating reserves. Development performance remains robust, with the current fiscal year running 11% ahead of fundraising goals.
Reporting to the President and General Manager, the Director of Development leads an eight-person team responsible for membership, major giving, corporate underwriting, and development operations. This is both a leadership and frontline fundraising position. The President previously served as Development Director, ensuring strong executive partnership and deep organizational commitment to philanthropy.
The next Director will help guide the organization through an important period of transition and opportunity. As public media adapts to the loss of federal funding nationwide, KSPS PBS is pursuing a proactive strategy to diversify revenue, deepen donor relationships, modernize fundraising systems, and prepare for a future $30 million capital campaign. The organization has the full support of its board and leadership team as it moves through this period with clarity and purpose.
You'll inherit a strong, experienced team and a loyal donor base with real depth - the foundation is here, and this role is about building on it.
In this role, you will:
Lead and inspire a talented development team, setting clear goals and building a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Develop and execute strategies to close a $1.2 million funding gap within 24 months while strengthening diversified revenue streams across membership, major gifts, corporate support, foundations, and planned giving.
Personally manage and grow a portfolio of approximately 25 to 40 major donor prospects, partnering closely with the President and General Manager on cultivation and solicitation strategy.
Strengthen donor stewardship, retention, and moves management processes to deepen relationships and increase long-term donor engagement.
Oversee a $1.6 million annual development budget and ensure fundraising strategy aligns with the organization's 2024-2026 strategic plan.
Evaluate and enhance CRM usage, reporting tools, segmentation strategies, and forecasting to support data-informed decision-making and modern fundraising practices.
Strengthen fundraising infrastructure, systems, and strategic planning to ensure KSPS PBS is well positioned for its next chapter of growth and community impact.
