Director Oligonucleotide Chemistry (Singapore)

Spencer Rigby has partnered with a globally recognised RNA therapeutics innovation platform advancing next-generation nucleic acid medicines from discovery through clinical translation.

We are seeking an experienced scientific leader to drive development of a cutting-edge oligonucleotide chemistry platform supporting rapid generation and optimisation of RNA drug candidates across multiple therapeutic areas.

What You’ll Do

• Lead strategy, build-out, and scale-up of high-throughput solid-phase oligonucleotide synthesis capabilities across antisense, siRNA, splice-switching, and emerging RNA modalities
• Drive innovation in next-generation oligonucleotide chemistries, novel constructs, and conjugated therapeutic formats enabling differentiated therapeutic candidates
• Serve as a core chemistry leader on multidisciplinary discovery teams, guiding oligonucleotide design, optimisation, and progression toward candidate nomination
• Build and mentor a high-performing team while establishing robust purification, analytical, and quality workflows to support multiple pipeline programs
• Manage external CRO partnerships and contribute to intellectual property generation, platform strategy, and senior leadership decision-making

Requirements

• PhD in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Chemical Biology, or related discipline with significant industry experience in therapeutic oligonucleotide discovery
• Deep hands-on expertise in modern solid-phase oligonucleotide synthesis, purification technologies, and analytical platforms such as LC-MS and UPLC
• Proven track record advancing nucleic acid therapeutics toward candidate selection, supported by publications, patents, or development milestones
• Demonstrated leadership capability with experience building teams and influencing cross-functional drug discovery programmes
• Willingness and ability to relocate to Singapore for a full-time site-based leadership role; comprehensive relocation support including relocation assistance, housing allowance, and education support for dependents will be provided
