Scion Executive Search has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for an Executive Director for our client, a mission-driven nonprofit strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Greater Memphis, Tennessee, and is available immediately.

Position Overview

The Executive Director serves as the strategic and operational leader of a well-established community branch, ensuring the delivery of high-quality programs and services that advance the organization's mission and strategic plan. Reporting to senior regional leadership, this leader oversees all aspects of a thriving branch, including a $2.5 million operating budget, 3,700 membership units, and a 55,000-square-foot facility.

This leader will be accountable for driving membership and program growth, maintaining a best-in-class facility, and leading a diverse team of staff and volunteers. Additional areas of focus include fiscal management, financial development, philanthropic engagement, and cultivating meaningful community partnerships, including relationships with the local city government.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight for branch operations, ensuring programs are high-quality, innovative, and aligned with organizational goals.
  • Build strong community partnerships and drive direct revenue performance.
  • Recruit, develop, and inspire a high-performing team of staff and volunteers.
  • Cultivate an inclusive, accountable culture that prioritizes professional growth and continuous improvement across all areas of the branch.
  • Manage branch budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls with a focus on fiscal responsibility and meeting revenue and expense targets.
  • Ensure resources are aligned with both branch-level and organizational strategic priorities.
  • Lead the annual fundraising campaign and broader philanthropic efforts, deepening relationships with donors, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Serve as a visible and influential presence in the community.
  • Partner with an advisory board and community leaders to drive volunteer engagement, board recruitment, and sound governance practices that strengthen the organization's long-term sustainability and mission impact.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to advance strategic and operational initiatives in alignment with organizational standards and values.
  • Model the organization's core values in all decisions and actions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business, or a related field preferred
  • 3 or more years of senior-level operations and leadership experience in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage staff, programs, budgets, and community marketing and outreach effectively
  • Experience developing and engaging volunteers, with the ability to recruit and cultivate community leaders for an advisory board
  • Strong commitment to and experience working with diverse populations
  • Proven ability to build and sustain partnerships with community organizations, municipalities, and corporate partners
  • Senior-level or multi-team leadership experience within a large, complex organization is a plus

Compensation And Benefits

This full-time, on-site role offers a base salary of $85,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes health coverage and paid time off.
