General Manager - Plastics

About the Company

We are seeking an experienced, operations-oriented General Manager to lead fast growing plastics manufacturing company. This is a high-impact, hands-on role with full P&L responsibility. The ideal candidate is a technical leader with a strong background in plastics processes, lean manufacturing, and team development. You will be responsible for driving operational excellence, improving gross margins, ensuring 100% on-time delivery, and fostering a safety-first culture.

About the Role

This role involves overseeing the operations of a plastics manufacturing company, focusing on operational excellence and team development.

Responsibilities

• Full P&L Management: Own the Profit & Loss statement, managing budgets, forecasting, and cost structure optimization to drive EBITDA improvement.
• Operational Excellence & Lean Manufacturing: Champion Lean manufacturing initiatives (Kaizen, 5S, VSM) to improve throughput, reduce scrap rates, and enhance efficiency.
• Production & Technical Leadership: Oversee daily manufacturing operations, including production scheduling, plastics technical processing, maintenance, and secondary operations.
• Quality & Safety Assurance: Ensure strict compliance with ISO standards (ISO 9001:2015), customer requirements, and OSHA safety regulations.
• KPI-Driven Performance: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive performance accountability across departments (production, quality, and supply chain).
• Team Leadership & Development: Hire, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Customer & Vendor Relations: Support commercial efforts by maintaining strong customer relationships, attending meetings, and ensuring high-quality product delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience: 10+ years of experience in plastics processing, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership and/or General Manager role.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of plastics processes, plastic materials, and automation.
• Financial Acumen: Demonstrated experience with P&L management, budgeting, and cost accounting.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Plastics, Industrial) or Business Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Leadership Style: A hands-on, "plant floor" oriented leader who is present and engaged in daily operations.
• Soft Skills: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, solve problems, and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in mid volume, tight tolerance products.
• Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
