The Network Engineer (SaaS Platform, GCP Focus) will architect, implement, and optimize cloud‑native networking for a multi‑tenant SaaS platform primarily on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) with cross‑cloud integrations to Azure. You’ll design secure, resilient, and scalable connectivity (VPCs, firewalls, load balancers, Cloud Interconnect, landing zones), codify infrastructure via IaC, and integrate network changes into CI/CD pipelines. Partnering closely with platform engineering, DevOps, and security, you’ll lead network patterns for Kubernetes/GKE, service mesh (Istio), microservices traffic management, and hybrid connectivity. You will enforce Zero Trust principles, segmentation, encryption, and compliance across frameworks. The Senior Network Engineer will offer advanced support for complex issues, lead resolution efforts, and provide consultation where necessary. This role blends hands‑on engineering with technical leadership: driving best practices, and advancing automation and observability to support high availability, performance, and cost efficiency.
Core Responsibilities
· Architect, implement, and manage cloud-native network solutions for SaaS platforms on GCP and Azure.
· Design and maintain scalable, resilient, and secure cloud networking using GCP services (VPCs, firewalls, load balancers, Cloud Interconnect, etc.).
· Develop and enforce Infrastructure as Code (IaC) frameworks for network automation and governance.
· Integrate network infrastructure with CI/CD pipelines and change management processes.
· Lead the design and implementation of containerized workloads (Kubernetes/GKE), service mesh (Istio), and microservices networking.
· Ensure robust cloud security: IAM, network segmentation, encryption, and compliance with frameworks (SOC 2, HIPAA, HITRUST, PCI, NIST, CSA).
· Collaborate with software engineers, architects, and DevOps teams to deliver high-availability SaaS solutions.
· Drive cloud adoption, best practices, and innovation within the engineering organization.
· Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical leadership and strategic roadmap development.
Required Qualifications
· 5+ years of network engineering experience, including migrating on-premises networks to cloud environments.
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
· Deep hands-on expertise with GCP, Azure and landing zone/peer networking and SaaS architectures.
· Startup experience or demonstrated agile/startup mindset.
· Track record in designing secure, scalable SaaS platforms.
· Advanced knowledge in:
o Enterprise routing protocols (BGP, OSPF) and technologies (Cisco, Juniper, Arista).
o Designing Layer 2/3 topologies for high availability and scalability; SD-WAN, VPN, hybrid connectivity.
o Network monitoring and performance tools (SolarWinds, NetFlow, Wireshark).
· Proven experience leading complex network and security initiatives from inception to deployment.
· Advanced proficiency in cloud-native networking, containers, and orchestration (GKE/Kubernetes).
· Strong experience with IaC tools (Terraform, Deployment Manager).
· Familiarity with monitoring, observability, and cost optimization in GCP.
· Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience as a Network Architect within a Fortune 500 company with at least 3 or more data centers, including both on-premises and collocated environments.
· Strongly desire someone who is currently using AI in their cloud networking role and is passionate about leveraging AI technologies.
