Our client, an innovative aerospace manufacturing company developing advanced propulsion and spacecraft technologies, is seeking a Quality Control Technician to support the inspection and validation of precision-machined components.
In this role, you will serve as a key resource for dimensional inspection and quality verification, ensuring that machined, welded, and coated parts meet engineering specifications and tolerance requirements. The position requires strong hands-on experience with precision measurement tools, coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
You will work closely with engineers, machinists, and manufacturing teams to maintain high quality standards and ensure traceability, accuracy, and compliance with internal quality processes.
Responsibilities
* Inspect machined, welded, and coated parts against engineering drawings and specifications
* Apply GD&T principles to verify dimensional accuracy and ensure parts meet tolerance requirements
* Program and operate CMMs and VMMs using software such as MODUS or CMM Manager
* Use precision measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, gauges, and surface plates for routine inspection
* Develop and follow inspection procedures for repeat production jobs
* Document inspection results and manage non-conforming materials and corrective actions
* Communicate inspection findings and recommendations clearly with engineering and manufacturing teams
* Maintain traceability, accountability, and adherence to quality processes
* Identify opportunities to improve shop efficiency and inspection workflows
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organized inspection and laboratory environment
Required Qualifications
* 2+ years of experience in quality control inspection within a manufacturing environment
* Experience performing dimensional inspection using hand tools and CMM equipment
* Proficiency using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and surface plates
* Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and ability to interpret technical drawings
* Experience programming or operating coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) using software such as MODUS or CMM Manager
* Ability to evaluate inspection results against specifications and make clear quality determinations
* Experience following procedures for handling and documenting non-conforming materials
* Understanding of tool calibration, traceability, and quality management systems
* Ability to collaborate with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to exchange technical information
* Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word, with basic CAD familiarity
* Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment
Preferred Experience
* 5+ years of experience working in a manufacturing lab or machine shop environment
* Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) certification
* Experience working in an aerospace quality environment
* Experience with advanced inspection technologies such as Faro Arms, laser scanning, or X-ray inspection systems
* Formal training, coursework, or certification in quality assurance or quality control
* Background or education in an engineering discipline
