Sanitation Technician

Department: Sanitation / Quality Assurance

Status: Non-exempt

Employee Classification: Regular Full-time

Reports To: Quality Assurance & Sanitation Manager

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Shift: Monday through Friday, 8:00pm to 4:30am

Job Summary: Responsible for sanitizing equipment, production tools and the facility environment in both the Apple and Formulated Plants to ensure best food production safety practices.

Essential Functions:

• Wears and maintains proper personal protection equipment while performing sanitation duties.
• Perform sanitation of production equipment and tools following strict standard operating procedures.
• Responsible for sanitation of the production environment
• Responsible for sanitation of the exterior environment
• Complete sanitation checklists and other records
• Perform Master Sanitation Schedule tasks
  
  
  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• One to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute ratio and percent.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  
  
  

Working Conditions/Physical Factors:

• Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions.
• Worker may be exposed to a loud working environment.
• Worker may be exposed to hazards in the work place such as proximity to equipment conducting extreme heat, moving parts, and electrical current
• Must be able to work in environment containing allergens (nuts, milk, wheat, etc.)
• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time
• Frequently required to use hands and fingers
• Frequently required to talk or hear
• Frequently required to taste and smell
• Frequently required to lift/push/pull/carry weight up to 40 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required for this job include: close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
