The Scientist I is responsible for performing intermediate-level analytical chemistry work, including chromatographic analysis and instrumentation. This role involves executing protocols, troubleshooting analytical issues, and supporting senior laboratory personnel. The Scientist also contributes guidance to associate scientists and ensures compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Interpret and communicate analytical results clearly and effectively to management and peers.
Perform routine testing using instrumental analytical methods, including:
HPLC
GC
FTIR
UV
ICP-MS
Emphasize chromatographic method execution aligned with departmental objectives.
Update SOPs, methods, and specifications through documentation systems to ensure USP compliance.
Provide technical support for:
Method validation
Method verification
Method transfers and evaluations
Troubleshoot instrumentation and analytical methods using problem-solving skills and external resources (e.g., literature, vendors).
Guide Associate Scientists as needed.
Assist in training personnel on GMP, safety, antineoplastic handling, and onboarding processes.
Maintain accurate and compliant documentation in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
Manage workload based on priorities, using sound judgment and objective decision-making.
Perform peer reviews of data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related physical science (required)
Experience
1–4 years of relevant pharmaceutical or laboratory experience
Experience with cGMP and FDA regulations preferred
Hands-on experience with chromatographic methods and data systems (e.g., Empower)
Skills & Competencies
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Proficiency in chromatography techniques
Effective communication and documentation skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
