Security Service Lead Sergeant

POSITION SUMMARY: Ensure the daily duties of the Security Officers and Dispatch Center are carried out. Assist with the training of existing and newly hired Security personnel related to the systems and their duties as set forth by the Security Department Standard Operating Procedures and the policies of Affinia Healthcare.

Position Qualification Requirements

Education: High School diploma required. Associate degree or higher preferred.

Experience: Requires five (5) years of physical security experience. Candidates are eligible upon completion of probation or at the discretion of the Security Manager or Assistant. VP of Safety/Security. Requires three (3) years of experience operating safety and security-related systems, such as access control, burglar alarms, closed circuit camera systems, computer-aided dispatch, fire alarms, scheduling software, and two-way radio operation. Three (3) years of supervisory experience preferred.

• Must possess the ability to make informed decisions in a timely manner.
• Must thoroughly understand the principles of physical and personal security, fire prevention, key control, personal and job safety and emergency first aid.
• Must possess excellent computer skills, including the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, and call center phone systems and related tools.
• Must possess a high level of verbal and written communication skills.
• Must possess good telephone and customer service skills.
  
  

Transportation Requirement: Must possess a valid driver's license and automobile with insurance coverage as required by the State of Missouri

License(s)/Certification(s) Required

• Must possess current St. Louis Metropolitan Security License.
• Must possess St. Louis County Police Department Specialized Security Force Training certification.
• Must possess St. Louis County Police Department Pepper Spray (OC) certification.
• Must possess St. Louis County Police Department Handcuffing certification.
• Must possess AED and CPR certification.
  
  

Functions Of The Job

Essential Functions which may be representative but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position:

• Protects and addresses co-workers, clients, and visitors with dignity, confidentiality, and respect.
• Responsible for monitoring the closed-circuit camera, fire/life/safety, and two-way radio systems and ensuring they are operational.
• Responsible for assisting with the training of security staff
• Review reports, investigate causation, and provide recommendations.
• Receives, reviews, and forwards complaints for action to the security manager.
• Ensures that staff are on assigned posts and prepared for duty.
• Respond with sensitivity and tact to the needs of staff, clients, and visitors.
• Monitor staff to ensure identification badges are worn.
• Completely secures location by daily checking doors, lights, and grounds area.
• Provide assistance as needed to clients, employees, and visitors.
• Assists police with investigations, as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
  
  

Marginal Functions

• Serve as backup in the absence of the coordinator.
• Assists, as necessary, the Security Manager.
