Overview:
A well-established public accounting firm in New Jersey is seeking an experienced Tax Partner to join its leadership team. This role offers the opportunity to lead client engagements, drive business development, and play a key role in the firm’s continued growth and strategic direction.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned tax professional with strong technical expertise, proven leadership capabilities, and the ability to manage and expand client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage complex tax engagements for a diverse client base, including closely held businesses, high-net-worth individuals, and partnerships
Provide strategic tax planning and advisory services across federal, state, and local tax matters
Review and oversee preparation of tax returns to ensure accuracy, compliance, and quality
Develop and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor
Drive business development efforts, including sourcing new clients and expanding existing relationships
Mentor and develop tax professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment
Collaborate with firm leadership on growth strategies, service offerings, and operational improvements
Stay current on tax law changes and ensure firm-wide adherence to best practices
Qualifications:
CPA required; MST, JD/LLM in Taxation, or advanced degree is a plus
10–15+ years of progressive tax experience within public accounting
Prior experience at the Partner, Principal, or Senior Director level preferred
Strong technical knowledge in tax compliance and planning
Proven track record in client management and business development
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience working with a variety of industries is highly preferred
Preferred Experience:
High-net-worth individuals and family office structures
Partnerships, pass-through entities, and corporate tax
Multi-state and complex tax planning engagements
Exposure to industries such as real estate, private equity, manufacturing, or professional services
