How Snowflake's UBAC enhances user access controls for Australian enterprises

MXCP just crossed 25K downloads, and it’s only a few months old. MXCP is our production-ready enterprise MCP framework/server: it helps you ship type-safe, governed MCP endpoints over real systems (databases, APIs, files) without rebuilding the same plumbing every time: OAuth + RBAC, policy enforcement (CEL, incl. masking/redaction), audit trails, schema drift detection, OpenTelemetry, plus native ETL support when you need it. We’ve also released MXCP Observability: traces + metrics + audit logs through a unified API, with fleet-level visibility across MCP deployments. It does feel like MCP moved from “early adopter” to “foundational” territory: the Linux Foundation’s new Agentic AI Foundation is being anchored by MCP with all major AI vendors participating. Most protocol teams build features first, governance later. That's backwards. 🏗️ MCP just turned one year old. Working alongside Den Delimarsky and other core maintainers and community members, I've watched something remarkable: the protocol succeeded 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 they prioritized governance early on. The community that came together—what Den calls MCP's "massive highlight"—didn't happen by accident. It came from the trust built by transparent governance. Think of it like building a city. You establish the foundation—who decides, how conflicts resolve—before building begins. Three governance decisions the core maintainers got right: 🔍 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧-𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 - Every spec change has a public rationale 🔍 𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢-𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 - Anthropic, Microsoft, and many other companies, and the broader community all have a voice 🔍 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 - Saying "no" to features more than "yes" Good governance 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 slow. EDB Day Session — Part 3: PGD 6.x — Five Nines Isn’t a Number. It’s a Promise. In the same EDB Day session (Dec 8, 2025), the conversation shifted in a way I’ve learned to respect. We stopped celebrating what’s new… and started protecting what must never break. Because in enterprise systems, availability isn’t a KPI. It’s payroll. It’s payments. It’s trust. It’s the quiet agreement we make with the business: “You will not feel our complexity.” That’s where PGD 6.x came into focus—not as “distributed architecture,” but as a platform built for a world where always-on is not ambition… it’s expectation. Five-nines-class availability. Scalability that doesn’t demand heroics. And most importantly: operations that don’t turn into a permanent war room. One capability from the discussion stayed with me because it sounds simple, but it carries years of engineering pain inside it: regional workload transfer to the closest database—ensuring no conflicts occur. That’s the real magic: not “more nodes.” A system that stays coherent when the world is not. And it ties directly back to the heartbeat of this series: Modernization doesn’t slow down because teams lack features. It slows down when change starts to feel unsafe. PGD 6.x is about restoring safety at scale: - availability that holds under pressure - scale that doesn’t create data fights - predictability during patching, upgrades, and planned change - and resilience that feels calm, not theatrical Part 1 was about operational trust. Part 2 was about reachable releases. Part 3 is about keeping both intact—when the platform has to be everywhere and up. 1EdTech, in partnership with Credential Engine, has released the 2025 Badge Count, offering a comprehensive look at the use of badging across today’s digital credential ecosystem. The updated total provides a clearer view of the marketplace and the expanding role badges play in documenting skills. Some of these findings also served as key data sets for the newly released Counting Credentials 2025 report, strengthening our understanding of the U.S. credential landscape and the role of badges within it.
