Celebrate your progress ↳ Focus on how far you’ve come, not how far you have to go. Tip: Write down at least one win each week (big or small). 2.     Waiting for the "perfect time" = never starting. Both mean you never reach your goals. Luck isn't as big a factor for success as people think it is. You can control and dictate the conditions in which your success is achieved. So, if you're still: - Blaming your circumstances - Waiting for the perfect conditions  - Or hoping things work out on their own... You're wasting precious time. But all it takes is a new way of framing your thoughts. Here are 10 mindset shifts to adopt now: (To guide you toward future success) 1. Instead of "I'll wait until I feel fully ready to start" Think "I'll start now and get better as I go along" Every expert was once a beginner who simply began. 2. Instead of "I don't have enough time to take this on" Think "I'll cut what doesn't matter and focus only on what moves me forward" Time isn't the issue, priorities are. 3. Instead of "What if this goes wrong and ends up failing?" Think "If it fails, I'll take the lessons and adjust quickly" Failure becomes fuel when you view it as data, not defeat. 4. Instead of "I don't have the motivation I need to start" Think "I need systems that get it done whether I feel like it or not" Motivation is unreliable. Systems execute consistently. 5.   • Do you have a F.R.E.S.H. Mindset? To kick off 2025, I was invited to speak for the Florida Speakers Association. I was asked to share my proven recipe for breaking through mental barriers and achieving meaningful results in your career. I shared practical strategies on how to build a profitable speaking businesses, but I shared with attendees that success begins with the person in the mirror. While we often discuss and contemplate success, true achievement requires decisive action and the proper mindset. Quite simply where you mind goes, your body will follow. A F.R.E.S.H. Mindset is a success-oriented mindset. A mindset where you focus on igniting your performance and producing amazing results in your career, business, or organization. F.R.E.S.H. isn't just another acronym; it's a comprehensive approach to cooking up the results you hunger for while inspiring others to do the same. F - Focused Your brain is naturally wired to keep you safe, often triggering fight-or-flight responses when facing challenging goals. To overcome this, specificity becomes your ally. Don't simply set general objectives – clearly articulate what you want, when you want it, and how you'll achieve it. This laser focus helps identify and eliminate distractions while inspiring both you and your team. R - Resourceful Successful people don't dwell on what they lack; they maximize what they have. When facing resource constraints – whether physical, financial, or experiential – create a "shopping list" of needed resources. Replace limiting thoughts like "I don't have" with empowering statements such as "I will find" or "I can." Remember, your network is one of your most valuable resources. Always Seek Knowledge (A.S.K.) and build relationships with those who can guide you on your journey. E - Enthusiastic Your goals must excite you. The emotional connection to your desired results needs to outweigh the emotional burden of the work involved. Take time to articulate why your objectives energize you. While few people genuinely enjoy the work itself, successful professionals maintain enthusiasm by focusing on the outcomes their efforts will produce. S - Strong (Mentally Strong) Mental strength isn't innate – it's developed. Your daily content consumption, relationships, and environment significantly impact your mindset. Surround yourself with "Taste Testers." Taste Testers are trusted advisors, mentors, and accountability partners who understand your goals and aren't afraid to provide honest feedback. These individuals will challenge you to transform aspirations into reality while suggesting valuable resources for your journey. H - Honest Take personal responsibility instead of placing blame. Acknowledge that meaningful results take time and that mistakes are inevitable. View failures as growth opportunities.     AVOID BLAMING YOURSELF & OTHERS -big brother's advice- Life is a journey filled with challenges and opportunities. At times, it’s easy to point fingers at our parents, our community, the government, the education system or teachers for the hurdles we face. However, true progress begins when we take ownership and responsibility for our own actions. It’s essential to understand that our path is shaped by our choices and efforts. Here’s how you can embrace this mindset and move forward effectively. Embrace Responsibility 1. Self-Reflection: Start by reflecting on your current situation. Acknowledge your role in your successes and failures. Understand that while external factors can influence your life, your reaction to these factors is within your control. 2. Set Clear Goals: Identify what you want to achieve. Whether it’s personal growth, career advancement, or financial stability, having clear, achievable goals will provide direction and motivation. Take Action 1. Find a Job or Start a Business: Waiting for the perfect opportunity can lead to stagnation. Begin by taking available opportunities, even if they are not ideal. A job can provide financial stability and valuable experience, while starting a business can offer independence and a sense of accomplishment. 2. Upskill Yourself: In today’s rapidly changing world, continuous learning is crucial. Identify skills that are in demand and work on acquiring them. Online courses, workshops, and certifications can provide the knowledge you need to stay competitive. 3. Be Proactive: Don’t wait for opportunities to come to you. Seek them out. While it’s natural to feel frustrated by external circumstances, blaming others will not bring you closer to your goals.     Your actions determine whether or not you reach your goals... but focusing ONLY on taking obvious actions is not the highest leverage strategy. Two layers of preparation lead to higher rates of success. The surface layer of preparation is basic and obvious. For example: Setting your alarm and your running clothes out the night before Meal prepping Rehearsing your presentation But a deeper layer of preparation is less obvious and more powerful. It's preparation for your brain. For example, if you have a presentation coming up, how about: Journaling about the presentation Setting an intention for your presentation Naming what you will believe about yourself as you execute your actions Before: Creating your presentation Rehearsing your presentation Delivering the presentation This deeper layer of preparation is easy to do, which means it's also easy to skip. But these mindset steps will exponentially elevate your leadership. Personally, I shift in and out of doing my mental prep. I'm only human. But when I do the prep, the outcome is always, always, ALWAYS better. I challenge you to pick one goal you have for this week and do this deeper layer of prep. STEP 1: Journal about it for two minutes. Freewrite anything that comes to mind. Clear your mind. STEP 2: Set an intention for one minute. What do you intend for this process? How do you want to show up? STEP 3: Finally, pick one sentence to believe about yourself as you execute your process. It could be as simple as "I am focused." What do you think?     I played sports growing up, earning scholarships to play baseball at Juco and Division One levels, with a brief stint in minor league baseball. I firmly believe that the lessons from sports translate into one's career. They teach you how to win and, more importantly, how to handle failure and keep pushing forward. Throughout my career, I faced numerous rejections, job losses, and people doubting my abilities. My advice? Keep pushing ahead, maintain self-belief, and persevere through failures until you succeed.     Your state of mind has more impact on your outcomes than anything else. Imagine if the walls closing in on your ambitions were actually built by your own thoughts. Erwin Raphael McManus in his insightful book "Mind Shift" sheds light on a powerful idea: If my mind can be structured for failure, then it can also be structured for success. This isn't just motivational mumbo-jumbo... it's a reality check. The structures of our minds aren't fixed. They are as changeable as clay. We are the sculptors. Every thought we entertain is shaping this sculpture. So, why not use this malleability to our advantage? By consciously choosing optimism and resilience over pessimism and defeat, we can reshape our mental framework to not only anticipate success but drive it. This is true in every aspect of your life. For example, in business, a study conducted by the University of California found that employees with a positive mindset were 31% more productive and 37% better at sales than their less positive counterparts. And, in health, the University College London concluded that happy, positive people are 35% less likely to die over a five-year period compared to their less happy counterparts. What you think impacts what you become. How do we start? 1. Begin with small, daily affirmations. ↳ True story. I sold books door-to-door in college and the only thing that got me through thousands of rejections while being pummeled by the sun and mosquitos was a habit of daily affirmations. 2. Reflect on your successes. ↳ No matter how minor, a win is a win. If you fail to celebrate each, the losses will feel larger. Start here. Two simple thoughts.
