There are very few similar objects, in fact I can't even remember the last time I saw a similar find with a metal detector. I'm sure it's been many years.

A prospector with a metal detector found a 3,000-year-old Bronze Age depot

A set of bronze jewellery from the Late Bronze Age was discovered at Wilschdorf near Dresden. Ronald Meißner, a certified associate of the Saxon State Office for Archaeology, found it using a metal detector.

The European Sword exhibition presents one of the most iconic weapons of human history - the sword as a symbol of power, honour and courage, but also of fall and destruction. It also shows it as the pinnacle of technological development, master craftsmanship and an important carrier of Europe's cultural memory.

Bronze Age treasure discovered under a planned wind farm

During the construction of a wind park near Wolfenbüttel in Lower Saxony, a depot of Bronze Age jewellery was discovered. This is the first such find in the northern Harz foothills since 1967 and the first to be professionally investigated in situ.

Treasure of silver coins under the church floor

A treasure trove of over a thousand silver coins from the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries was discovered in the Church of St. Andrew in Barczew, Poland. The coins were stored in a glazed ceramic cup; they filled it to the brim. It has now been presented in the Archdiocesan Museum of Warmia.

Stolen 2,400 year old golden helmet from Coțofenești found after a year

The Dutch and Romanian authorities have managed to track down one of the most valuable artefacts of the Dacia heritage. The golden helmet, an extremely rare part of Romania's national treasure, was stolen in a spectacular robbery of the Drenthe Museum in Assen, the Netherlands, where it had been temporarily loaned from Romania. Along with it, three gold bracelets were also stolen.
