      The sound of this speaker is outstanding. I remember getting a Bose speaker around 2003. It was my first “quality“ speaker and I was floored by the sound. I had the same experience 20 years later with this JBL speaker. The sound is so crisp and clear and the base is significant for the size, almost like a big subwoofer in the corner but the entire thing is resting in your palm. My friend was over and he and I listened to it and he was also impressed. In fact he said he needs a new pair of earbuds and we debated various brands but then he said, “well this JBL has it figured out.” I think he is going to look at their earbuds. I have no issues recommending this speaker, it will amaze you!

      I've had the Clip 3 for several years and been very happy with it. I'm a commercial bus driver and our buses don't have radios. I don't listen to radio anyway so I carry a bluetooth speaker thru which to listen to the playlists on my phone. A couple of weeks ago, my Clip 3 seized up one night while charging and i couldn't get it to work, so I thought it would be a good time to upgrade and started looking at the Clip 4. It got 5 star reviews, people said it has a warm sound with great bass response so I ordered it. Well lo and behold, while I was waiting for it to arrive, my Clip 3 started working again so when the Clip 4 arrived, I did a side-by-side comparison. The Clip 3 far and away out-performs the Clip 4 to my ear. It's slightly heavier weight means it has a bigger transformer. It has a warmer tone and better bass response. I'll keep the Clip 4 as a backup. My recommendation to anyone trying to decide between the two is to go with the Clip 3.

      It's okay. I used an app called VLC on my phone that has a 10 point equalizer along with a volume booster. I play owned music so I haven't tried streaming that much. In setting up the equalizer, I can get decent volume and a decent mix except for an echo. I can't stand the echo. I'm struggling to tamp it out trying different settings. It's been a good learning process. I previously had a Doss GO 3 and almost had it dialed in until the Main button broke. Pity. Using the same button for both Power and Play functions was a bad idea and simply too much from my use. I use the speakers while working and I push these buttons a lot! A good equalizer along with a volume booster is likely the best way to get the most out of your speakers, especially small ones.

      I have this speaker (the clip 4) and I also have the jbl go 3. I usually use my go 3 when listening to podcasts because I find the vocals to be noticeably crisper. The only thing wrong with this speaker is you can't stand it upright. You have to lay it down flat or clip it to something. I ended up buying a separate silicone case that makes my clip 4 sit upright. I honestly wish it was designed that way to begin with. The build and sound quality are top notch on the clip 4 though. Also, the battery life is much longer than 10 hours but I usually only have my speaker around 50% volume most of the time.
