Connectivity complexity rarely appears as one big problem. Instead it appears as operational work: Provisioning users Rotating credentials Troubleshooting access issues Maintaining gateways A commissioned Forrester TEI study found organizations using Tailscale saw: 📊 60% less timemanaging remote access When the system becomes simpler, a lot of that operational work disappears. Tailscale reposted this
Yesterday Kevin Kotecki and I had the chance to spend some time with Jensen Huang and the team at NVIDIA. We’re grateful for the opportunity to share more of what we’ve been building at Tailscale—and where we think connectivity needs to go next. A lot of the conversation centered around a shift that’s already underway: networks are no longer just connecting servers. They’re connecting AI systems, robotics, and hardware that was never designed to work together, from cutting-edge GPUs to older devices still doing critical work. That creates a surprisingly hard problem. How do you make all of that interoperable without rebuilding everything from scratch? How do you give AI systems and physical devices secure, identity-based access to each other, across environments, without adding layers of complexity that break the moment something changes? Our view is that the network has to become simpler, not more complicated. More like a shared fabric that different systems can plug into, regardless of where they run or when they were built. A lot of what we’re doing at Tailscale is aimed at exactly that: connecting AI infrastructure, bridging old and new hardware, and making it all work as one coherent system. It was energizing to compare notes with a team thinking deeply about these problems from a completely different layer of the stack. Looking forward to continuing the conversation.
