Fight underage drinking

(The following is a paid advertisement)

Nearly a third of all sixth-graders – yes sixth graders – have tried an alcoholic drink.

Illinois…has a drinking problem. An underage drinking problem.

Half our teenagers have tried alcohol and their new drink of choice is called an “Alcopop” a Flavored Alcoholic Beverage.

They’re sweet and fruity drinks that contain alcohol.

Alcopops are cheap and preferred by girls. But often result in issues known mostly to women, like pregnancy, date rape, STDs and menstrual problems.

What can Illinois legislators do to protect our kids?

Increased taxes on Alcopops will help reduce underage drinking. Studies show youth respond to price increases.

By preventing underage drinking, we can protect our kids from growing up too soon.

It’s not rocket science. They target kids, we protect them.

Support increased taxes on Alcopops this year.
