Firefox is starting to suck
I recently downloaded Firefox's latest update, which was supposed to patch a security hole, and now the thing is crashing more than IE ever did when I still had one of those GatesCrates. Very, very frustrating. I'm going back to Safari for a while.

Firefox only 'selling' point is that it's "not IE".
If you have not upgraded to Tiger it is well worth it. The new Safari has much faster downloading speed, allows for RSS feeds and has some great search features. Not to mention al the other new features Tiger offers.
If you are not testing your changes on a browser that is used by 90+% of the viewing public, then you should be. Regardless of your personal preferences...the fact is most people still use, and will continue to use for long into the forseeable future, Microsoft Internet Explorer.
I agree with Darian. You have to test with IE. But I use Firefox because despite what the 1st anonymous says, it offers tons of functionality that IE doesn't. Tabbed browsing rules.
Rich, I agree with everyone else, except that guy who works for Bill Gates.
File your troubles under "O" for "Operator Error".
You might want to go to the Mozilla customer support/knowledge base to rectify your troubles.
I don't for, but work around, Bill Gates. It's pretty foolish not to take IE into consideration when they dominate the market.
That would be like a left-hander concentrating on how to make a writing instrument work well for left handers and not even testing it with a right hander - especially if they are trying to sell that item to everyone. It's simple market realization regardless if you are left-handed or not.
You must work in the government sector where they don't worry about common sense things like market share.
Rich knows who his audience is. Sitemeter records the browser/ip being used by everyone that visits this site.
We also must remember that Blogspot is content magangement created by Google.
There's no browser issues with this solution. And, the tabs option in Firefox allows for faster linking/posting. Good luck with safari I get a pinwheel that hangs for days.

Rich,
Same here - patched FireFox is causing me no problems.

Some Mac people using the latest Firefox are unhappy. See for example:
http://www.mozillazine.org/talkback.html?article=6611
It's important to keep in mind that there are official Firefox releases for Windows, Linux and Mac. They all have to be developed separately. If someone has trouble with Firefox on a Mac, that doesn't mean you will have the same trouble with Firefox on your Windows or Linux machine.
Some developers give short shrift to Mac versions. Fotrunately for Mac users, there are other products, often designed specifically for the Mac, that will get the job done.
Constructive Post #1 from me:
Goto www.designoutpost.com and register as a user. Then post an ad in the Project Forums (Templates Forum) Offer them $300 for a new page layout, and give them a week or so for a deadline.
It's a very, very cool site - you simply post a project and offer a fixed rate. You then pay the people that run the site up front. Designers work (initially for free) to please you by offering up their designs and working with you on the forums. After some iterations, you pick the designer that you want and then they get paid and you get the rights the chosen design. (or you can tweak some more in the revisions forum.)
So after a week, $300, and a little feedback from you, you should have a very friendly template for this site.
I just had a 468x60 banner ad done for $30 - you simply can't beat that with a stick (either left handed or right handed!)
it really is starting to suck; this last "upgrade" causes numerous problems w/ firewalls, etc.
You ahve to go to their community forums at
http://forums.mozillazine.org/index.php
& wade thru to the appropriate answer to fix whatever problem you might be having.
but these forums are censored as they becoming more microsith-like
Anyone have a suggestion on another browser that goes back to the way Firefox was orgiginally -- simple, anti-IE, & more virus/worm proof than the main browsers? I'd used Netscape as long as I could until it became a cloe of IE, then switched to Firefox given its rave reviews. WHat's the next big thing on the horizon? Next time I switch browsers, I'm downloading the install package and NEVER updating.
