- A menstrual disc/ring, made of silicone, bright pink. The rim has a round cross-section and is about 1cm thick; it forms an oval. The bowl is a crumpled, slightly translucent silicone membrane, with a latticework of slightly raised ridges in the shape of a tesselation of hearts. (en)
- The rim is strongly concave on the same side that the main bowl is concave. The cup is bilaterally symmetric. (en)
- A stack of five roughly hemispherical diaphragms, each with a circular rim which is round in cross-section, all circularly symmetric. Next to them, a single diaphragm in a different colour; one portion of the near-circular rim bulges slightly, and the bowl near it has a deep, narrow moulded-in dimple, concave on the side that the main bowl is convex. The bowls are quite thin silicone rubber, a membrane that crumples under slight pressure; but the rims are more than a centimeter thick and hold their shape. (en)
- A cup being folded and squished into a cylindrical shape. (en)
- The rim steps smoothly from one height on one end to a somewhat shorter height on the other. On the end with the taller rimm, the bowl becomes a bit shallower. The outside of the bowl is smooth, but the lattice can be seen through it. There is a small 3-by-9 rectangle of raised dots out the outside to show where to pinch, and a very visible moulding flash. (en)
- Two slightly different sizes of very standard cups; the difference is discernable, but not glaring. (en)
- Scale images of 14 different menstrual cups, most bell shaped, two goblet-shaped , two with smooth outsides and an asymmetrical thin-membrane turned-in lip, most with cylindrical stems, one with a loop, one with a ladder-like strip of loops, one with no stem. (en)
- A blue cup with a pointy but unstemmed tip, the rim cut on a slant, the tip curling a bit towards the side where the rim is short, all rounded as if melted (en)

- A reusable silicone menstrual disc or ring. The thin-walled bowl is much more flexible than in a bell-shaped cup. The bowl on this cup is covered with a lattice of ridges on the inside. (en)
- A side view of the same arced-rim diaphragm as in the previous picture. The bumps on the rim indicate where to pinch the rim in order to compress the device for insertion. The indentation near the hand is intended to aid removal. The S-shaped profile of the rim is intended to let the cup squish to fit a broader range of sizes. (en)
- Side view of the same item, showing grooved rim and slightly asymmetrical, translucent bowl. Note moulding flash on rim, showing where the two-part mould joined. (en)
- Bell-shaped menstrual cups come in many different shapes (en)
- Most manufacturers make at least two different sizes, sometimes confusingly labelled (en)
- A stemless, coloured menstrual cup with an asymmetrical rim to fit a tilted cervix. (en)
- Contraceptive diaphragms; one arced-rim diaphragm intended to fit sizes 65-80mm, and five in 5mm-increment diameters from 60-90mm. These are shaped similarly to menstrual discs, but they are overmoulded, silicone with a springy nylon core in the rim. (en)
- Softer bell-shaped cups may be more comfortable for some, but firmer cups may have a better seal (en)
