AI Breakfast Vienna by Speedinvest and Merantix Capital! Over croissants and coffee we got into the question: what does it take to build AI health giants in Europe? Our key takeaways: - Traction beats the perfect plan. In healthcare bio it's hard to test and proof assumptions, finding early traction matters more than waiting for the textbook launch. - Europe is not one market. Sequencing your entry is everything. Don't start with the biggest GDPR headache. Go where the leaders move fast, work with private insurance where you can, and talk to a lot of players so you can focus on the quickest entry. The Netherlands, Finland and Sweden seem to be very promising. - Go deep, not horizontal. Solving one issue properly makes success far more likely. - And capital intensity varies hugely: drug development is the heaviest, while AI support for clinical workflows needs much less to build. Miina is tackling one of Austria’s most urgent everyday challenges: helping families find reliable, flexible care and support at home - through direct, transparent matching with vetted professionals, without the complexity of traditional agency models. What started as a hypothesis has grown into a platform that has already supported more than 2,000 care hours and now works with over 100 vetted care professionals across Vienna, Lower Austria, and Styria. Seeing Miina grow from an early idea into an independent company is a special milestone for us - especially because the problem it tackles is so real for so many families.
