A Pilbara-based, First Nations group delivering community, cultural and commercial projects for the Yindjibarndi people.

About us

The Yindjibarndi community is pursuing self-determination through a strategy that is centred on our unique ‘3C’ approach—community, culture and commerce. Our group structure is aimed at delivering benefits to all Yindjibarndi people. Some of this has been in place for some time, like our contracting business Yurra, the Yindjibarndi trust both formed in 2013, but other parts are in the early stage, such as our renewable energy business and our plans for eco-tourism in Millstream. We’re now in talks with other commercial and government partners to deliver on ambitious projects that address the housing, employment and health needs of our community. So check out our website if you have an interest in anything Yindjibarndi, or if you might want to partner with us.

  • There’s a powerful difference between talking about Country from a boardroom and standing on it. Being together on Country creates space for a different kind of conversation, built on shared understanding, respect and partnership. 🤝 Earlier this month, we welcomed investors from 13 superannuation funds, asset management firms and an investment bank to Yindjibarndi Country, in a visit coordinated through Jarden. Together, we shared our culture, our aspirations and our vision for Yindjibarndi-led economic development. The opportunity is to build stronger, more direct relationships with capital markets, helping investors better understand what matters to us and creating a shared foundation for future partnership and Yindjibarndi-led opportunity.

  • A proud day! As part Yindjibarndi People's drive to protect water on our Ngurra (Country), and our goal to build shared understanding and shared responsibility, Yindjibarndi Water yesterday announced an agreement with Rio Tinto and the Government of Western Australia to lead the acquisition of Dampier Seawater Desalination Plant. This agreement, achieved through our partnership with Affinity Capital Group, will strengthen water security in the West Pilbara; sustainably diversify water supplies for the Water Corporation and Rio Tinto; and deliver much-needed environmental relief while preserving Yindjibarndi cultural heritage at Millstream. It is also another step on the Yindjibarndi path to self-determination by delivering a secure, long-term economic return and, over time, enabling us to grow operational capability. Wajiwarlu! • It was an absolute pleasure to spend time on Yindjibarndi Ngurra with Senator Lines.

It was an absolute honour to be invited to Juluwarlu Group Aboriginal Corporation's Cultural Awareness Camp on the beautiful Yindjibarndi Nation country. Beginning with a warm welcome at the Ngurrawaana Community, we visited cultural sites along the way to the breathtaking Wuyumarri (Gregory Gorge) where we set up camp. An engaging schedule had us learning Yindjibarndi and Wuyumarri stories through traditional dance, exploring plants in the area and their healing properties, and connected with elders and their families. Thank you for the opportunity to experience your incredible culture and country. It was a powerful reminder that we all have a role in ensuring Aboriginal culture and country is protected for future generations

  • 🦅 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝘀𝘀 Travelling through Yindjibarndi ngurra recently, YAC General Manager, Culture & Heritage Philip Davies took these extraordinairy shots of a Little Eagle carrying a freshly killed cat. "After I photographed it, the Little Eagle dropped the cat at the base of a garrawa wanda (corkwood tree),” Phil said. “I placed the cat in the tree, hoping that the Little Eagle would come back. "Yesterday evening, I checked: the cat was not there and there was no trace of any remnants of it in the tree or on the ground.” Feral cats are a highly destructive, invasive species in the Pilbara, where they pose a severe threat to native wildlife. When Juluwarlu Culture and Art CEO Lorraine Coppin saw the photos, she saw it as Country looking after Country, commenting: “Nature is boss.”
