🌎 Climate + Health + Investment. Three interconnected challenges. One important conversation about how we build healthier people, communities, and economies. Thank you to World Business Chicago for creating space for the panel “Investing in Health for a Changing Climate” at the Future-of-Health 2026 Venture Summit. Great to see Todd Khozein representing SecondMuse alongside Roy Steiner of The Rockefeller Foundation, Dan Ripma of S2G Investments, and Steven Collens of @MATTER. A few takeaways from a discussion that reinforced just how interconnected our systems really are: 🥗 “Food is medicine, but our healthcare system hasn't caught up.” Roy Steiner highlighted the staggering costs of diet-related disease—more than $1 trillion—and the opportunity to move beyond treating illness toward prevention. From medically tailored meals and food prescriptions to reimbursable nutrition benefits, the evidence is building for a different approach to healthcare. 🔬 “We need to better understand what we're eating.” Roy also discussed the Periodic Table of Food Initiative and the fact that the vast majority of molecules in our food aren't routinely measured. Better data can help us understand the relationship between food quality, regenerative agriculture, and human health. 💰 “Investment must address systems, not just symptoms.” Dan Ripma spoke to the opportunities for investment and innovation across food, climate, and health, including the importance of engaging communities and building solutions that address chronic disease over time. 🤝 “Innovation needs viable business models AND community trust.” Steven Collens emphasized the realities of scaling healthcare solutions, from economics and margins to the importance of proximity, trust, and a more holistic approach to care. 🌱 “Climate and health are not separate conversations.” Todd Khozein brought the discussion back to the importance of connecting climate resilience, human health, and economic opportunity—recognizing that meaningful solutions require collaboration across sectors. At SecondMuse, we're actively working at these intersections, building innovation ecosystems that connect climate solutions, regenerative food systems, health, investment, and economic development. But this conversation was bigger than any one organization. It was a reminder that the future of health depends on how we invest in the systems that sustain life. Appreciation to World Business Chicago: Phil Clement Abin Kuriakose Manleen Rajput Helena Gittelman and all the panelists for advancing a conversation that deserves more attention, more collaboration, and more action. 👏🌎 As a multiple-times Venture Summit participant, many congratulations to the team and City of Chicago for hosting a special couple of days. #ClimateAndHealth #FoodAsMedicine #ClimateInnovation #HealthInnovation #RegenerativeAgriculture #ImpactInvesting #FutureOfHealth

How do circular businesses create measurable impact? How do investors and Entrepreneurship Support Organisations (ESOs) assess circular economy ventures? SecondMuse, as part of CEIC, along with Climate Collective, set out to answer these questions through roundtables with investors, gathering their perspectives and case studies. These inputs informed the design of an Impact Measurement Masterclass for investors and ESOs active in Bengaluru's circular economy ecosystem, delivered during the recently concluded Bangalore Climate Data Week—a city-wide convening to explore how data and AI can drive climate action. The aim is to build ecosystem-wide literacy on how circular businesses create measurable impact and to support investors with tools for due diligence and portfolio management. The participants worked through practical approaches to measuring, tracking, and communicating impact across their portfolios. CEIC is an initiative of Climate KIC Entrepreneurship, SecondMuse and GrowthAfrica, funded by IKEA Foundation. #CEIC #CircularImpact #BLRCDW26 #CircularEconomy #ImpactInvesting #ClimateTech  Laura Benns Manisha Bisht

"We're not trying to necessarily create new markets. We're smart enough to try to identify them and accelerate them." On Global Development Interrupted, Mark Carrato, who leads our work around emerging markets, joins host Leah Petit for the episode "What Do Markets Have to Do with It?" to explore why long-term impact requires moving beyond isolated project anecdotes to drive true systems change. Mark makes the case that public and philanthropic dollars go furthest when they work within existing market systems, accelerating local ecosystems rather than creating temporary fixes. And because markets rarely solve complex challenges alone, blended capital that combines grant funding, public investment and private capital is key to de-risking investment and unlocking sustainable growth. This is the work our team over at SecondMuse Capital also leads every day. Overall at SecondMuse, systems change is at the heart of what we do. By aligning private capital, local innovation, and market structures, we help build economies that last. 🎧 Watch the clip and listen to the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/eGGbjgYq

  • Young people are rarely in the room when the tools meant to support their mental health are designed, funded, or bought. That gap shows up later, in unused products and investments that fall short. Through our Headstream Innovation program, we've spent 8 years bringing together young people, entrepreneurs, and health and education systems to co-design youth mental health solutions. Swipe to hear from Headstream’s Youth Co-Creator Club alumni about what meaningful collaboration looks like from their side of the table. 💙 For organizations ready to build with young people, not just for them, the Equity-Centered Youth Co-Creation Framework is a practical place to start: https://bit.ly/4yxWMI3
