Twenty years ago, the Chicago Conservation Corps (C3) started training Chicago residents to lead environmental change in their own communities. Today, C3 has trained more than 1,000 leaders and become a model for what grassroots climate action can look like. On October 28, we're bringing together Chicago's business and civic leaders to mark this milestone — featuring a keynote from Gil C. Quiniones, President and CEO of ComEd, and a panel on why community leadership is becoming central to how companies think about climate resilience and risk. Featuring: - Key Note Speaker: Gil Quiniones, President & CEO, ComEd - Panelist: Angela Tovar, Commissioner & CSO, City of Chicago's Department of Environment - Panelist: John Edelman, Managing Director, Global Citizenship and Corporate Responsibility, Edelman - Panelist: Joanne Rodriguez, LEED AP, FitWel Amb, CDT, Senior Director, Climate, SecondMuse, LLC - Panelist: Alaina Harkness, CEO, Current & Great Lakes RENEW - Moderator: Darcel R. How do circular businesses create measurable impact? How do investors and Entrepreneurship Support Organisations (ESOs) assess circular economy ventures? SecondMuse, as part of CEIC, along with Climate Collective, set out to answer these questions through roundtables with investors, gathering their perspectives and case studies. These inputs informed the design of an Impact Measurement Masterclass for investors and ESOs active in Bengaluru's circular economy ecosystem, delivered during the recently concluded Bangalore Climate Data Week—a city-wide convening to explore how data and AI can drive climate action. The aim is to build ecosystem-wide literacy on how circular businesses create measurable impact and to support investors with tools for due diligence and portfolio management. The participants worked through practical approaches to measuring, tracking, and communicating impact across their portfolios. CEIC is an initiative of Climate KIC Entrepreneurship, SecondMuse and GrowthAfrica, funded by IKEA Foundation. #CEIC #CircularImpact #BLRCDW26 #CircularEconomy #ImpactInvesting #ClimateTech  Laura Benns Manisha Bisht

Three countries, each with different opportunities to make cool roofs a practical and go-to choice across Southeast Asia. In Malaysia 🇲🇾, the opportunity is to build the recognition of cool roofs in green-building standards. In Thailand 🇹🇭, it’s to turn emerging evidence into actionable insights. In Indonesia 🇮🇩, the focus is to strengthen local supply and make cool roofs accessible for the three-million-homes program. The Million Cool Roofs Collective brings organizations, industry experts, and local partners together to turn these opportunities into workable ideas through Co-Create. If your organization has the knowledge, ideas, or connections to help move cool roofs forward, this is your opportunity to contribute. Register your interest to join Co-Create and submit your application by 25 October 2026. "We're not trying to necessarily create new markets. We're smart enough to try to identify them and accelerate them." On Global Development Interrupted, Mark Carrato, who leads our work around emerging markets, joins host Leah Petit for the episode "What Do Markets Have to Do with It?" to explore why long-term impact requires moving beyond isolated project anecdotes to drive true systems change. Mark makes the case that public and philanthropic dollars go furthest when they work within existing market systems, accelerating local ecosystems rather than creating temporary fixes. And because markets rarely solve complex challenges alone, blended capital that combines grant funding, public investment and private capital is key to de-risking investment and unlocking sustainable growth. This is the work our team over at SecondMuse Capital also leads every day. Overall at SecondMuse, systems change is at the heart of what we do. By aligning private capital, local innovation, and market structures, we help build economies that last. 🎧 Watch the clip and listen to the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/eGGbjgYq

  • Young people are rarely in the room when the tools meant to support their mental health are designed, funded, or bought. That gap shows up later, in unused products and investments that fall short. Through our Headstream Innovation program, we've spent 8 years bringing together young people, entrepreneurs, and health and education systems to co-design youth mental health solutions. Swipe to hear from Headstream’s Youth Co-Creator Club alumni about what meaningful collaboration looks like from their side of the table. 💙 For organizations ready to build with young people, not just for them, the Equity-Centered Youth Co-Creation Framework is a practical place to start: https://bit.ly/4yxWMI3

  • At #ClimateWeekNYC, our team noticed a clear shift. The conversations were less about what should happen and more about how to make it happen, with specifics, partnerships, and a real commitment to action. Here's what came up again and again across the week 👇 🌱 Nature isn't a side conversation in climate. It is infrastructure. Nature-based solutions exist and are scalable, but capital isn't reaching them at the scale required. 🛡️ Reducing risk so capital can move came up again and again, from new insurance products to public-private capital stacks. At the Sorenson Impact Natural Capital Summit, Natalia Arjomand and Simon Baldwin spoke on outcomes-based financing, exploring how to pay for verified outcomes across a landscape rather than funding one project at a time. ⚡ Adaptation and resilience were everywhere, even when we weren't calling them that. Extreme heat, insurance, infrastructure, water, and grid reliability all came back to the same need to prepare communities for what's ahead. As our Head of Climate, Lara Croushore, puts it: the people, capital, ideas and policy expertise are already here. The work now is bringing them together🤝 Joanne Rodriguez, LEED AP, FitWel Amb, CDT Mark Carrato Mikhail Hutton
