There's a difference between reading about limits and watching someone push past them. 🚀 On Monday, part of our team stood in a field in Germany as Quantum Systems' Apex Recordhunter flew its first official record run: 777 km/h, fully electric, into a headwind. What stayed with us just as much was the effort behind it. Seeing how much Robert Gardemin and the N3XT team have put into this project made the moment even stronger, and we're glad we got to be part of it. Our colleagues Tomáš Večeřa and Michal Grunt made sure the propellers were ready for speeds like this, iteration after iteration. And we're very proud of them. Boundary-pushing projects are how a whole field moves forward. This one has a lot ahead of it, and we're looking forward to seeing where Quantum Systems takes it next. Most interceptor drones in service today top out at around 300 km/h. The jet-powered Shaheds they have to catch already fly at 400 to 500. Plastic propellers do the job on slower interceptors. Push much faster and the blades bend and twist under load, lose their shape, and the drone simply stops accelerating. Designing propellers for interceptors above 500 km/h pulls all our teams in at once. Our aerodynamicists design for blade tips running close to the speed of sound, at Reynolds numbers far above what drone propellers normally see. The structural team has to carry extreme loads in blades that stay thin and light. Production engineering makes sure we can build them in volume, at a cost that works for something that flies only once. And our innovation team is testing approaches that could change how these propellers are made altogether. I’m proud of how these teams work together on this. Speed is one piece of the answer to the new threats, and it’s a piece we can do something about.🚀

A new school year is starting 🎓 and it has us thinking back to one of our favourite visits: a group of students from University of Virginia who came to see how carbon fibre propellers really get made. Huge thanks to Zdeněk Pavlík, who walked them through production, and to Hana Škarpová, who kept the whole day running like clockwork. Our doors are always open, and the next group of curious minds is welcome anytime. Because there's a real difference between reading about composite manufacturing and standing right next to it: watching a blade take shape, asking the questions that only surface when the process is right there in front of you. That's time well spent. If we want young people to fall for engineering and the technical trades, we have to show them what the work actually looks like, and give their curiosity room to run. ⚙️ So to every student heading into a new year: we're rooting for you.
