The 2026/27 Vis Moot is under way! ⚖️ This year’s case has been released, and last Monday the Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen’s Vis Moot team met with their Plesner coaches for their first discussion of the legal and strategic questions ahead. The students are preparing for the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, an international competition where law students work on a fictional commercial dispute and present their arguments before arbitration practitioners. Over the coming months, the team will research the case, write submissions and practise presenting their arguments ahead of the final rounds in Vienna. It will take dedication and close teamwork. “Vis Moot is a chance to put what we have learnt at university into practice. I’m looking forward to developing our arguments together, learning from our coaches and getting to know the rest of the team along the way,” says Vera Jarlov, Vis Moot team member and legal intern at Plesner. Having competed in the Vis Moot themselves, the Plesner coaches Carl Bau Nielsen and Silas Sarrouw Jensen will share their experience and advice as the team prepares for the competition. Good luck to this year’s Vis Moot Team UCPH. We’ll be cheering you on! 🍀

What does a solar park have to do with Plesner? Since 2023, we have worked with the Danish start-up The 0-Mission, which enables companies to support solar power generation in Denmark through a subscription. Under our agreement, electricity generated by a solar park and fed into the Danish grid is matched annually to our electricity consumption. Our colleague Kathrine S. recently visited the Ingerslev Å solar park to see the project for herself. In the film, she explains why taking responsibility for our electricity consumption matters to Plesner. The partnership is one part of our wider work to reduce our environmental impact, alongside efforts to use less energy at our offices.

A week of conversations that will stay with us long after the IBA Annual Conference has left Copenhagen. Throughout the week, we welcomed international colleagues, clients and friends to Plesner for discussions on everything from the future of the legal profession to working together across borders. We also had the chance to reconnect over breakfast, at receptions and around the dinner table. In this short film, our partners Henrik Rossing Lønberg and Tina Brøgger Sørensen share their impressions of the conference, the themes that shaped the week and Copenhagen as host city. A sincere thank you to all our guests and international colleagues, and to everyone across Plesner who helped make the week possible. We look forward to continuing the conversations – and to seeing many of you at the IBA Annual Conference 2027 in Singapore. #IBA2026 #IBACopenhagen

During the IBA Annual Conference in Copenhagen, we welcomed colleagues from TechLaw Group and other international lawyers to dinner at our office. Plesner is part of TechLaw Group, a network of 28 independent law firms that share expertise in technology law and work together when clients need advice across jurisdictions. The dinner gave us a chance to meet beyond the network’s regular gatherings and hear what is occupying colleagues in their respective jurisdictions. Among other things we discussed the developments in the legal sector in our various countries regarding alternative legal service providers (ALSP's). Thank you to everyone who joined us for an evening of good conversations and new connections. #IBACopenhagen

Will early tribunal involvement in expert evidence processes help resolve complex disputes? Yesterday, we welcomed Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Ciarb) to Plesner for a discussion on the future of expert evidence in international arbitration, held during the IBA Annual Conference in Copenhagen. Building on CIArb's recent comprehensive market study and report on expert evidence in international arbitration proceedings, the panel explored the potential benefits of early tribunal involvement in the process to ultimately give tribunals a better basis for assessing the topics subjected to expert evidence. Other important topics like expert instruction, expert conferencing and drafting of joint supplementary reports were also discussed. Thank you to Aruna de Silva, Michael Tonkin, Pamela McDonald, Alexandra Johnson and to Plesner's Head of Arbitration Jimmy Skjold Hansen for sharing their perspectives – and to everyone who joined the discussion and stayed to continue the conversation afterwards. #IBACopenhagen
