Request addition of protection to a page, or increasing the current protection level

Indefinite semi-protection: This article is potentially in an abnormal state regarding protection levels. Back in March of 2024, a user applied the GENSEX CT designation to the article or parts of it. However, that protection was only set up for a year and has already expired. Recently, a new user saw this edit notice warning them that they should not edit the article as they do not have 500 edits, but as noted at the talk page, the current protection is only for those below 10 edits. I believe that due to the GENSEX CT that the article needs to return to semi-protection and should be set to indefinite so that it doesn't expire again. However, I could be incorrect on this due to the circumstances and assistance would be needed if incorrect on how to proceed forward. --Super Goku V (talk) 08:15, 20 October 2026 (UTC)reply

Reason: Requesting temporary page protection due to an ongoing editing dispute involving repeated restoration of contested material by User:Ramblingbard2024.

The disputed edits include repeatedly adding the descriptor "modern" and comparing Ryūshin Shōchi Ryū to the Japanese performing art of kenshibu, including the characterization "strong theatrical quality."

The cited source does not explicitly identify kenshibu or characterize the school's techniques as theatrical. These additions raise concerns regarding Wikipedia's policies on verifiability, original research, and neutral presentation.

Temporary page protection is requested to prevent further edit warring and allow the disputed content to be reviewed and resolved through discussion and editorial consensus. Nihon-no-budo (talk) 14:17, 20 October 2026 (UTC)reply

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Persistent vandalism – So much for semi. Box office, yet again. ChompyTheGogoat [ Bleat | Munched ] 14:36, 20 October 2026 (UTC)reply

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Re-requesting upgrade. Limited reversions because I can't keep up - at this point it's not even worth bothering until it's protected because they'll just re-insert immediately. ChompyTheGogoat [ Bleat | Munched ] 15:00, 20 October 2026 (UTC)reply

Reason: Repeated disruptive reverting. On 5 October, a temporary account reverted sourced changes, calling them "vandalism". Further reverts followed on 19 October and 20 October with similarly baseless accusations.

For what it's worth, I personally explained things at Talk:Fire of Manisa#Recent edits and also gave a warning to the user's talk page as well, but the disruptive editing has continued. I think this is textbook WP:DISRUPTIVE. Trabzonluyuz-rumuz-elhamdulillah (talk) 15:22, 20 October 2026 (UTC)reply

Following is the admin-only message on that page: This article is currently featured on the Main Page as This Week's Article for Improvement. The purpose of TWAFI is to encourage readers of the Main Page to make their first edits and understand how Wikipedia works. Keeping this article completely unprotected is essential to this goal.
Obviously, we need a lot of eyes to watch out for vandalism, but this is not an issue for an article on the MP. An increase in vandalism is not a reason to protect TWAFI. Instead, monitor this article closely and block specific temporary accounts rather than restricting access for unregistered users or applying pending changes protection. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 18:41, 20 October 2026 (UTC)reply

Somebody completely blanked it and nominated for db-g10, and disruptive editing has spiked. Should this article really be unprotected? MarioWonderExpert (talk) 19:49, 20 October 2026 (UTC)reply
