Hello everyone! I will be expanding this stub a bit, so feel free to jump in with any sources you may think would be helpful, or topics to expand on. Thanks Theedecemberblues (talk) 17:04, 18 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Theedecemberblues: Hello, and thanks for expanding this topic. I considered reviewing this, but I find it to be only touching the surface and I think it needs a bit more expansion. I realize that a GA doesn't have to be complete or comprehensive (like FA), but I found this to be a somewhat cursory review, but just barely a broad overview. I was also looking to see some good sources on the subject, perhaps Pacific Diaspora: Island Peoples in the United States and Across the Pacific (2002); Tongans Overseas Between Two Shores (2003); "When gifts become commodities: pawnshops, valuables, and shame in Tonga and the Tongan diaspora" (2008); Marking Indigeneity: The Tongan Art of Sociospatial Relations (2017), among others. You can also contact ʻUlise Funaki for guidance, as they recently completed doctoral research on Tongan cultural practices in Hawaii and could give you a good selection of sources to work from. I replaced the image as a placeholder to get you started. Some of the more important Tongans in Hawaii don't have images on Commons so they may need to be uploaded. Feel free to change this and rearrange it and add new images as you see fit. Viriditas (talk) 03:26, 8 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Tongans in Hawaii have faced challenges... They are also very successful Tongans in spite of these challenges, in all fields and with a wide variety of expertise. Don't limit the lead to "challenges". Viriditas (talk) 03:33, 8 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
