suggestion - add PM name labels

I submit the numerical naming of ministry means little to even the most insider of politicos, except to the PCO public servants who use them regularly. (I suspect it was invented by someone there... The crats are the folks who published the lists on PCO website afterall... and I feel it is a fairly recent thing, as I cannot find any contemporaneous documents for governments before the 1980s referring themselves as xxth ministry.) What is done is done, however. To make this system and this particular box more user friendly, I suggest updating the template to show both the numbers (which both PCO and Parliament have adopted) and the first minister's name, something like this:

• 20th P. Trudeau I (1968–1979)
• 21st Clark (1979–1980)
• 22nd P. Trudeau II (1980–1984)
• 23rd Turner (1984)
• 24th Mulroney (1984–1993)
• 25th Campbell (1993)
• 26th Chrétien (1993–2003)
• 27th Martin (2003–2006)
• 28th Harper (2006–2015)
• 29th J. Trudeau (2015–2025)
• 30th Carney (2025–present)

I think it would make it much more intuitive for readers, while also keeping the numbering system. Milton Chan (talk) 02:33, 16 November 2025 (UTC)
