IPA: Language Study

[edit]

The paragraph immediately following the above cited heading in the referenced wiki page with reference to Taiwan is misleading at best, outdated, or incorrect, because I lived and taught in Taiwan and I taught English to many Taiwanese; I learned KK --- which is based on IPA, using some specialized symbols and not using diacritical markings --- the phonetic symbol system taught to older students learning English. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.239.178.118 (talk) 16:43, 28 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Central-lateral fricatives of Rijāl Almaʿ and Mehri [ʪ, ʫ]

[edit]

@PharyngealImplosive7, Kwamikagami, and Nardog: Please add the Central-lateral fricatives [ʪ, ʫ] to the other section 2405:201:F005:A0FD:545B:B7DE:EE01:F456 (talk) 13:22, 11 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

And their articles are...? Note navigation templates provide navigation among existing articles. Nardog (talk) 16:07, 11 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
Voiceless lateral–median fricative and Voiced lateral–median fricative — they got a section but same went for ones like Voiced bilabial approximant. I too would like to request that those two, which would probably get added to co-articulated table (idk it's up to decision) & that Voiceless bilabial approximant, a similar section that I helped add, get added next to Voiced bilabial approximant on the pulmonic consonants table. I've come up with a couple lists of consonants that have not yet been added to the nav.temp; I'd like to make sure an edit is pertinent before making one to a template transcluded on about at least 1000 pages.
Consonants with definite articles/sections missing (in no way comprehensive):
  • VL/VC alveolar lateral–median fricative (suggested: co-art?)
  • VL/VC dental lateral–median fricative (suggested: co-art?)
  • VL bilabial approximant (placement: expected)
  • VL/VC postalveolar plosive (placement: expected)
Consonants with anchorable primary mentions or otherwise mentioned in section-lists:
  • VL bilabial tap or flap (placement: expected)
  • VL linguolabial nasal (placement: expected)
Additionally, I've drafted an article about the VL uvular tap and flap, lmk if that looks like it could get into mainspace & be added to the nav.
If some/none of this is pertinent, could you tell me why? I'm not too familiar with the whole reasoning behind the gaps in the IPA (if that affects your answer here). I'd love to know any way! Okkirae∤(䆿±䋚) 21:38, 12 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Nardog, could you take a look at this? Okkirae∤(䆿±䋚) 22:10, 19 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
