The Union Parliament (Burmese: ပြည်ထောင်စုပါလီမန်)[1] or simply Parliament (ပါလီမန်)[a] was the bicameral legislature of the Union of Burma from 1952[3][b][1] to 1962, when it was disbanded by the Revolutionary Council of the Union of Burma. It consisted of an upper house, the Chamber of Nationalities and a lower house, the Chamber of Deputies. Before the first Union Parliament was elected and assembled according to the constitution, the Constituent Assembly of Burma [my] served as the Provisional Parliament.[4]

From 1957 to 1963, the Union Parliament was a member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).[5]
